To Kids - I’m a real adult but not like a real adult 🥴.

From my experience, telling kids you’re a 'real adult but not like a real adult' sums up the awkwardness and fun of adult life perfectly. Unlike what kids might think, being an adult doesn’t mean having everything figured out. Often, it's about learning as you go. One thing I’ve noticed is that adults juggle lots of roles—managing work, handling bills, making smart food choices, and sometimes forgetting important things like birthdays or simple chores. That feeling of being in control but also often confused is a big part of what makes us 'fake real adults'. Also, the pressure to always act responsible can be overwhelming. It’s okay to admit that adults sometimes feel just as unsure as kids do, even if society expects us to have a perfect plan. For example, balancing a career with personal happiness or trying to maintain friendships over time is a constant challenge. What makes it better is allowing ourselves to embrace imperfections and laugh at the craziness of adult life. Sharing these moments—whether it's burnt dinners, mess-ups at work, or awkward social encounters—helps bridge the gap between kids’ expectations and the truth of growing up. So, when talking to kids about adulthood, honesty paired with humor creates a real connection. It reminds everyone that being an adult is less about having it all together and more about finding joy, learning from mistakes, and growing every day.
