DIY Dupe Of The Ordinary Conditioner
⭐ The Ordinary makes some pretty affordable skin care and now they moved on to hair care.I wanted to make this conditioner because it's simple and even more affordable to make it yourself. This product is a duplicate ( dupe)of the original formula because I swapped out the perservative system and the chelating agent , but other than that I say it's pretty spot on.This conditioner is good for fine straight hair types, due to its oil free formula. If your is thick and coarse this conditioner would be best used as pre- detangler before washing your hair or could use it condition your before you take a dip in the pool on those hot summer days. Since this formula is very simple it only does four things repair, condition , moisturizer, and detangle nothing more nothing less. But if you're a beginner it's worth a shot to try it out.As always the formula is written below👇 along with any tools you may need.#diyhairproducts #diyhaircare #beautydupes #hair #haircare
📑🧪Ingredient breakdown:
Behentrimonium chloride : A cationic quaternary ammonium compound used to detangle and condition the hair.It penetrates the hair shaft to restore damaged hair .
Glycerin : A humectant that retracts and retains moisture.
Distilled water: A solvent used to combine all the ingredients together.
Cetearyl alcohol: A fatty alcohol used to stabilize and thicken .(I'm using a 50/50 blend from formulator sample shop)
Guar gum: A plant derived from thickener, and stabilizing agent.
Tetrasodium glutamate diacetate: A chealotor agent helps bond with metal ions in the water ,it also helps boost the Perservative system.
Euxyl® K 903: A Perservative system keeps things fresh and free of mold, bacteria and yeast.

scale
beaker or heat resistant glass jar
stove or hot plate
spoons
low profile pan or pot
silicone spatula
whisk
pot holder gloves
immersion blender
1 glass jar /lid
plastic wrap
🧪Batch size :300 grams

Glycerin 7%/12.00grams
Guar gum 1.8%/5.40grams

Phase C
Tetrasodium glutamate diacetate 0.2%/0.60grams
Euxyl k 903 1%/3.00grams
Propylene glycol 1%/3.00grams
📝Instructions :
1)weigh out each individual ingredient .
2)start with phase A combine the glycerin and the guar gum until it forms a slurry then slowly add it to the water whisk to combine until the water becomes a gel.
3)Place phase A in your pot with water ( water bath) on med high heat on the stove. (use a heat proof glass)
4) Once the water in the bot starts boiling add in phase B mix continually until all of phase B is melted down completely.( this process takes 15-20 minutes mins or longer depending on the type of stove you have)Cover your glass with foil or plastic wrap. Make sure you don't see any lumps clear or chunks. If so keep it on the heat until it completely melts down.
5)Take off the heat ⚠️( use heat save gloves) carefully it will be very hot.Tskevoff the foul or plastic wrap and insert the emersion blender ( keep gloves on though out this process) on low shear and mix for 10-15 seconds. Cover and let the mixture cool down for 15 mins then use the emersion blend again on high shear for 15-20 second. The cover and set to the side to cool completely for 5-8 hours or even wait till the next day to continue to the next step.
6)Once cool mix proceed to phase C and mix together the Euxyl k 903 and the propylene glycol together until uniform and set aside.Add the tetrasodium glutamate diacetate use a whisk to combine ( this will raise the pH of the product it will from white to cream that's fine ) , then follow up with the Euxyl k 903 and the propylene glycol mixture whisk for about a minute until everything is evenly distributed,(this will lower the ph and it will go from cream color to white )Place finished product into 4 oz or 8 oz jars with lids.
📝Side note : this will smell like a plant farted while making it because of the guar gum , but once you add the Perservative the smell will fade almost into nothing.Mine dupe might be a little thicker the the original conditioner by The Ordinary but other than that I think it came out great.
