Emotional Spending 🛒

Emotional Spending 🛒

Before financial life broke... unaware

.

.

I think we all used to be...

I've been stressed from work all day. I got back to my room... pressed online orders unexpectedly.

Sometimes I feel bad about myself... so I walk into the mall looking for something to "make me feel better."

Or just bored, lonely... accidentally swiping a card and something you don't really want.

If you read it and feel "like us at all,"

There's a chance we're having a "fake sidekick" called Emotional Spending.

Or the unconscious use of emotional money on the side of the body.

It looks like a little consolation.

But if you let this friend hug our necks too tightly... it could become a long-term financial and mental health time bomb. ⚠️

Why does just "feel bad..." make us "pay hard"?

Simply put,...

Emotional Spending is that we buy money, not because we need it, and not because we really want it.

But to "plug" certain feelings in your heart, such as stress, sadness, boredom, loneliness, or self-comfort.

And our brain is cunning...

When buying / paying, the brain secretes dopamine, making it "feel better immediately."

It's like a very fast-acting painkiller.

But the problem is... it's only good for a second.

When happiness fades, what follows is an emotional "hangover."

• Feel guilty.

• Heavier stress

• The bill began to follow.

• Money begins to strain hands

Finally, we may be unwittingly trapped...

The mood controls our wallet. 😵‍💫

The "easy shopping" era = the riskier

When shopping is done in a few clicks

So it makes Emotional Spending much more dangerous.

Because when bad feelings come... the solution is right in front of us.

Open app → Select of → Press Pay → Wait for delivery

It's easy for many people to pay unconsciously until they start having credit card debt problems.

It's more dangerous than you think... because it doesn't just hurt "money."

Emotional use of money is not just money.

But it eats our lives in the main 3D.

1. Create an emotional vicious cycle

Stressed → Shopped → Good for a second → Feeling guilty / more stressed → Shopped again to escape feeling

Keep circling until your mental health gets worse.

2. Break the silent financial plan

Like a bucket of water with a small leak.

Top-up money flows out with "unnecessary matters" until it doesn't actually reach its goal.

3. Make us forget our big goals in life

Emergency Reserves Home Retirement Plan Long-Term Investment

It might not happen if we exchange it for "instant good feelings" too often.

Check yourself a little: 8 warning signs that "emotion" is controlling the "wallet." ✅

Try to answer directly.

1. Do we shop more often when stressed, bored or lonely?

2. Buy something unplanned in advance, or buy something similar?

3. Finished buying, feeling guilty / sorry, almost every time?

4. Have you ever secretly hidden your purchase or avoided telling the truth about the price to someone close to you?

5. When the problem "Open Shopping App" becomes the first thing to do?

6. Feel that shopping is an indispensable "life reward," but happiness is getting shorter and shorter?

7. No serious monthly expenditure controls planned?

8. Beginning to have credit card debt problems, or feeling that the finances are more strained?

If you tick more than a few questions, don't panic.

It just means it's time for us to "stop looking at ourselves" and start dealing seriously.

So how do we brake this cycle?

Do not break raw, but gradually adjust with these 4 tools.

1) Install the "emergency brake" before pressing supply. 🛑

Ask yourself briefly,

"Do we buy because we have to, or because we have emotions?"

If the answer is emotional... try the 24-hour rule.

Take a break and come back.

Most of the desire will decrease by itself.

2) Make a "mind remedy box" that doesn't require money. 🌿

Find something that really makes us better, like

Stroll, listen to music, exercise, warm bath, write vent, call friends

The more emotional management choices we have,

The brain won't run for shopping as the first solution.

3) Create a financial "safe playground." 💡

Do not use money for happiness... sometimes even more stressful

Let's set up an "indulgent" budget, such as 5-10% of income.

And clearly separated into accounts / envelopes.

Want to buy anything, buy from this budget

Will use the money... without feeling guilty later

4) Find a "safe zone" that is a real person. 🤝

Sometimes just talk, vent.

The tension is so reduced that we don't have to rely on shopping for consolation at all.

Don't keep it alone, sir.

And if it's really heavy, talking to an expert is a very brave choice.

Money can buy happiness... but can't cover up suffering.

Buying yourself "happy" is not wrong.

But if we buy to "escape feelings" or "really avoid trouble,"

Finally, we may have to pay more expensive than we thought.

What we need to practice is not just "manage money."

But "emotional management" along the way.

Because of a really stable and happy life.

Start by understanding yourself enough... not to let the emotions take our money away. 🙂
