Roof Top demand

Everybody talks about gutter guards until the whole roof is covered in leaves.

Two-story roof. 12/12 and 10/12 pitch. Reverse curve guards. Nothing major inside the gutters, but leaves all over the roof from trees hanging over the house. This is why some jobs cannot really be handled right unless you are willing to get on top and do it.

Meta glasses POV the whole time.

From personal experience, I’ve found that when trees overhang a house, simply relying on gutter guards isn’t enough to keep your gutters and roof clear of debris. Particularly with two-story homes featuring steep pitches like 12/12 or 10/12—which means the roof rises 12 or 10 inches for every 12 inches horizontally—the leaves tend to accumulate heavily on the roof surface itself. One key insight is that while gutter guards such as reverse curve systems do a good job at preventing debris inside gutters, they don’t address leaves directly landing and layering on the roof shingles. These layers eventually slide or get blown into the gutters, leading to clogs or even damage if not properly managed. Effectively, this means that no matter how effective your gutter guards are, periodic manual roof cleaning becomes essential. Getting on top of the roof, although it can be intimidating due to steep slopes and height, is often the only way to thoroughly remove leaves and avoid hidden damage. Wearing appropriate safety gear and using tools like Meta Glasses, which offer a first-person point of view, can make this daunting task more manageable by allowing real-time documenting or remote assistance. Additionally, creating a regular schedule—especially during fall or after storms—helps reduce buildup. Using leaf blowers suited for roof use can speed up the job, but hand raking carefully around gutters can prevent damage to guards or shingles. For homes in leafy suburban areas like Dublin, Ohio, where trees abound, these maintenance practices become especially critical. In summary, maintaining a clean roof isn’t just about protecting gutters but also preventing potential leaks, ice dams in colder climates, and prolonging the roof’s lifespan. Combining gutter guard technology with proactive roof cleaning and leveraging modern tech like Meta Glasses results in a comprehensive strategy that keeps your home safe and sound throughout the seasons.
