This took me 40 hours and…
This art took me 40 hours and I absolutely hated how difficult it was. I felt like I failed as an artist and I had no idea what I was doing. After getting thru the ugly stages of it, I started coming to terms with the fact that I do this to myself all the time. I self sabotage… only to realize that im actually doing ok. After working so many hours on this art, i have seen so much growth in my art and how much i have improved. And here is the finished artwork 🤩 Comment “POISON” and I’ll DM you the 🔗
Creating art is often a challenging journey filled with moments of doubt and frustration, as experienced during a recent 40-hour project. Many artists face what's commonly known as artblock—a period where creativity feels stifled, and motivation wanes. It’s completely normal to want to abandon a piece when it feels 'ugly' or difficult, but perseverance is key. Trusting the process, even when progress seems slow, can lead to breaking through creative barriers and uncovering growth in your skills. When struggling with self-sabotage or negative self-talk, remember that these feelings are often temporary. Many artists learn to manage these inner critics by focusing on small improvements and viewing art as a journey rather than just the end product. Color application often marks a turning point in artwork where the image begins to resonate emotionally with the artist, providing renewed motivation. Engaging with communities, such as those around #apothecarydiaries, can provide encouragement and shared experiences that remind artists they’re not alone. Commenting with a keyword like “POISON” to receive prints or resources is a great way to connect and support creative exchange. Ultimately, embracing the difficult phases and celebrating growth can make the completed artwork not just a creation but a symbol of resilience and personal development.
