President Jimmy Carter officially declared a week celebrating women's history in 1980, which evolved into a month-long commemoration in 1987. This celebration is now recognized globally, including in Canada, Australia, and the UK. It acknowledges the achievements and challenges faced by women over the years, honoring figures from suffragists like Elizabeth Cady Stanton to contemporary advocates for equality.
