... Read moreEmbarking on a tattoo journey is incredibly personal, and each piece tells a unique story. I love sharing my ink, so let's dive deeper into some of my favorite and most meaningful tattoos, including details about the pain, the placement, and the symbolism behind them.
First up, my rib tattoo, which is hands down my favorite. It features a beautiful sun and moon design with stars, and the word 'balance' scripted delicately underneath. This piece really speaks to me because it represents the harmony I strive for in life – the light and dark, the good and bad, all coexisting. Getting an upper rib tattoo can be quite sensitive, and I'd be lying if I said it was painless, but the artistic outcome and the deep personal meaning made every bit of discomfort worth it. The healing process for a rib piece requires a bit of care, especially with clothing rubbing against it, but following your artist's aftercare instructions diligently makes all the difference.
Now, for the other end of the spectrum: my spine tattoo. Oh, the spine! This was, without a doubt, my most painful tattoo experience. The spine is a very bony area with a lot of nerve endings, and I opted for a red ink design featuring multiple symbols. These symbols – 'breathe,' 'protection,' and 'life' – hold significant personal meaning, acting as constant reminders and affirmations for me. While the pain was intense, the result is stunning and truly empowering. If you're considering a spine tattoo, be prepared for a higher pain threshold, but also know that the visual impact can be incredibly striking.
My birth year tattoo, 'VIMM,' on my wrist, marking the year 2004, is another special one. I wanted a subtle yet meaningful way to carry my birth year with me, and this personalized script felt perfect. Birth year tattoos are a fantastic way to celebrate your identity or a significant milestone. You can get them in various styles, from Roman numerals to delicate script, on places like the wrist, ankle, or behind the ear. It’s a quiet nod to who you are and where you come from.
Then there are my angel numbers, '222,' which I have in two spots: a small one on the side of my finger and another accompanying a red ink butterfly tattoo on my wrist. Angel numbers often carry spiritual significance, and for me, 222 represents balance, harmony, and new beginnings. Having them tattooed reminds me to stay positive and trust the journey. Finger tattoos, while cool, can fade quicker due to constant hand movement and washing, so they might need touch-ups. The butterfly on my wrist, combined with the numbers, adds a touch of delicate beauty and deeper meaning.
I also have a distinct black and grey tattoo on my inner bicep depicting a woman with long hair wearing a cowboy hat. This piece has a traditional feel and embodies a sense of freedom and strength that I admire. And for a bit of playful edge, my lower back features 'Angel' spelled out with a small devil tail – a fun contrast that reflects different sides of my personality. Finally, a small heart behind my ear is a tiny, intimate piece, a simple reminder of love and self-care. Each tattoo is a chapter of my story, and I hope sharing them gives you some inspiration for your own ink journey!
I have those 3 symbols tattooed on myself as well 😌 just not on my spine! You’re brave to get that area tattooed 👍🏿
