Beyond 100 years, Mojiko Station full of Taisho Romance revives!
Mojiko Station was the first station in Japan to be designated as an Important Cultural Property.
In order to cope with aging and seismic reinforcement, preservation and repair work began in 2012, and from 2013, the station building was dismantled, repaired, reinforced, and assembled by covering it with a basic roof. The construction, which took about 6 years, was completed in 2019. The appearance at the time of its founding in the Taisho era has been revived.
Currently, there are only two existing station buildings designated as important cultural properties: Mojiko Station and Tokyo Station.

門司港駅は、歴史ある鉄道駅としての価値だけでなく、その美しい大正時代の建築様式が多くの人を惹きつけています。私自身も訪れた際には、駅舎の細部に施された装飾や煉瓦造りの外壁に感動しました。 保存修理工事によって耐震性能が強化され、現代の基準に対応しつつ、歴史的価値が損なわれないよう細心の注意が払われています。特に、「幸運の手水鉢」と呼ばれる、大正3年の建設当時の手水鉢が戦時中の貴金属供出を免れそのまま残っていることは、歴史の重みを感じさせる貴重な存在です。 また、門司港駅は現役駅舎としては東京駅と並び日本で二つしかない国の重要文化財であり、鉄道ファンだけでなく建築ファンや歴史愛好家にもおすすめのスポットです。駅周辺には懐かしい風景が広がり、まるで時間が止まったかのような雰囲気に包まれています。 個人的 には、門司港駅の復活は地域の文化保存における模範例だと思います。訪問した際は旧駅舎の写真を撮影しつつ、周辺の観光や地元グルメも合わせて楽しむと良いでしょう。旅の思い出として、門司港駅が持つ歴史と魅力を肌で感じていただけるはずです。
