The main character, Tsumugi Aoba (Haruna Kawaguchi), is a woman who has experienced a breakup with her lover who she wanted to love for the rest of her life 8 years ago and is living a new life. Such an encounter between Tsumugi and an important person happened to be attracted to the voice of a boy who happened to hear at a morning meeting in the fall of her second year of high school. Tsumugi is fascinated by Sakura Sou (Ren Meguro) who reads an essay on the stage, and gradually realizes that he has become an interesting presence. In the third grade, they were in the same class, and through mutual friends, the distance gradually narrowed, and they decided to go out. The two deepened their relationship by communicating with each other through their hobby of loving music, but one day after graduation, when Tsumugi wants to be together from now on, Sou suddenly says goodbye without saying the reason and disappears. Eight years have passed since then, and Tsumugi was starting a new life, but one day, by chance, he happened to see Sou in the crowd, and he became aware of his existence again. Tsumugi started looking for him to meet Sou again and talk with him properly, but in fact he was suffering from "bilateral sensorineural hearing loss" that gradually becomes difficult to hear, and he lost most of his hearing.
This completely original work is a love story that carefully depicts the figure of the main character, Tsumugi, who loves seriously but has to break up with his high school sweetheart / idea after 8 years, and the reality that was waiting there while facing it, snuggling up and trying to overcome it. A woman who overcomes parting with an important person and is trying to live now, and a young man who has chosen to break up with himself because he has a disability. Two people who meet again in a world without sound and the people surrounding them weave a painful but warm story.

『silent』は「大きな事件が起きる」タイプじゃないのに、ふとした表情や間（ま）で心を持っていかれるドラマでした。特に目黒蓮さん演じる佐倉想が耳が聞こえない世界で生きている、という設定が“切なさ”を増幅させていて、同じシーンを見ても受け取り方が毎回変わるのがすごいところ。 私が印象に残っているのは、まず「雪」のシーン。冬の空気って、それだけで音が吸われる感じがあるじゃないですか。そこにタイトルの“silent”が重なると、セリフが少なくても感情が伝わってきて、見てる側の心の中だけがうるさくなる。雪の白さが、二人の距離の近さと遠さを同時に見せてくる感じがして、終わったあともしばらく余韻が抜けませんでした。 それと、目黒蓮×川口春奈の「ハグ」のシーン。恋愛ドラマのハグって安心の記号になりがちだけど、『silent』は“伝えたいのに伝わらない時間”を抱えたまま抱きしめるから、胸がきゅっとなる。音がない分、手の置き方とか、息のタイミングとか、視線の揺れが全部メッセージになっていて、見逃せないんですよね。 「再会」シーンも忘れられません。偶然見かけた瞬間の、紬の気持ちが一気に戻る感じ。ここで大事なのって、会えた嬉しさだけじゃなくて、“8年分の空白”がそのまま挟まってしまう苦しさ。想が耳が聞こえない現実を抱えているからこそ、言葉で埋められない距離があって、だからこそ二人が寄り添う瞬間が温かい。 もしこれから見返すなら、名シーンだけを追うより「前後の表情」をセットで見るのがおすすめです。雪やハグみたいな分かりやすい場面も、直前の沈黙や、言いかけて飲み込む仕草が積み重なって刺さり方が変わるので。静かなのに、感情がいちばん動く――それが私にとっての『silent』でした。
