Fall Staple: Styling A Pleated Skirt! 🍂🧋🤎
A pleated mini skirt is a year-round staple as far as I’m concerned. It is one of the easiest pieces to style and I truly believe pleated skirts are flattering on almost everyone and every body-type. Although I love a pleated mini in the spring and summer, I also really enjoy styling them in the fall and winter. Especially with knee-high boots and tights, they are truly so versatile!
I styled one of my favorite pleated skirts this day with a button down shirt and a slouchy sweater over it. I also wore some knee-high boots, tights and added a pop of burgundy to bring in more of a fall vibe. This outfit turned out so cute, I was warm all day and though this is a work outfit for me, for those with stricter dress-codes this can work well for campus or even a day out and about. Do you style pleated skirts year round?!

You know that one piece in your closet you just can't live without, no matter the season? For me, it's definitely the pleated skirt! While I adore wearing my pleated mini skirt in warmer weather, there's something extra special about styling it for fall and winter. It's like a secret weapon for creating cozy yet chic looks, especially when the weather starts to get a bit chilly. My absolute favorite way to embrace this fall staple is by pairing it with layers. Take my recent outfit, for example – I started with a crisp white collared shirt under a super soft, oversized slouchy sweater. This combo instantly adds a touch of sophistication while keeping you incredibly warm. And of course, to complete that classic autumn vibe, I slipped on some opaque dark tights and my trusty black knee-high boots. This specific combination not only looked put-together but also felt incredibly comfortable for a full day of work and errands. A little detail that always makes a difference? A pop of color! My burgundy bag was the perfect touch to bring in those rich fall tones. But the beauty of a pleated skirt, whether it's a pleated mini skirt or a more modest knee-length pleated skirt, is its sheer versatility. You can literally transform it for almost any occasion. For a super casual student look, imagine swapping the sweater for a graphic tee and throwing on a denim jacket with some chunky sneakers – perfect for a day on campus! If you're heading out for a dinner or a more formal event, try pairing your skirt with a delicate silk camisole and a structured blazer. Add some heeled ankle boots or even elegant pumps, and you’re instantly elevated. Let’s talk more about tops, because there are so many options beyond just sweaters. A fitted turtleneck tucked into a pleated skirt is incredibly chic, especially in a rich color like a burgundy top with a black skirt. Or, for a slightly preppier feel, a fitted cardigan with a pleated skirt outfit can look really polished. Don't shy away from experimenting with different textures too, like a chunky knit or a fine-gauge merino wool. And footwear! While black knee-high boots are my go-to for warmth and style, don't limit yourself. Ankle boots, especially ones with a slight heel, can create a fantastic silhouette. For a more academic or classic look, loafers or Mary Janes with your dark tights can be absolutely adorable. Accessorizing is where you truly make the look your own. Besides a statement bag like my burgundy bag, think about chunky scarves, delicate layered necklaces, or even a chic hat to tie everything together. The key is to balance the volume – if your sweater is slouchy, a more fitted skirt might work well, or vice-versa. Ultimately, styling a pleated skirt for fall is all about embracing layers, textures, and finding combinations that make you feel confident and comfortable. It's truly a year-round hero piece in my wardrobe, and I hope these extra tips inspire you to get creative with your own pleated skirt outfits this season! Happy styling! 🍂
