dismantle white feminism ‼️

“white feminism” describes feminists who, when discussing women’s issues, only talk about the experiences of white women. this is obviously outdated and problematic bc REAL feminism celebrates women- period! women of every race, sexuality, ethnicity, etc.

intersectionality becoming more talked ab has raised awareness for the need to move away from this harmful rhetoric. but we’re far from done

none of us have rights until all of us do!

... Read moreHey everyone! 👋 Let's talk about something really important that often gets misunderstood: what feminism truly means. Like many of you, I grew up with a certain idea of feminism, often seeing it through the lens of women's suffrage or corporate equality. But as I learned more, I realized that this 'one-size-fits-all' approach, often termed 'white feminism,' doesn't serve all women equally. 'White feminism' historically focused on the experiences and priorities of white, middle-class women, inadvertently sidelining the unique struggles faced by women of color, LGBTQ+ women, disabled women, and others. It's not that these issues aren't important, but they often don't address the fundamental, everyday challenges some women face just to survive. This is where the concept of intersectionality becomes not just important, but absolutely crucial. Coined by Kimberlé Crenshaw, intersectionality helps us understand that our identities aren't just one thing. We don't just experience sexism; we might also experience racism, classism, homophobia, or ableism simultaneously. These intersecting identities create unique forms of discrimination that can't be addressed by a blanket feminist approach. As the powerful message from the image says, 'girlhood isn't defined by race – FEMINISM SHOULDN'T BE EITHER.' True, inclusive feminism celebrates the diversity of women and fights for all of us. Think about what's often missing when we only focus on certain aspects of feminism. For many women, especially those in marginalized communities, feminism isn't primarily about breaking the glass ceiling in a corporate boardroom if they're struggling to secure basic needs like safe housing, nutritious food, or adequate healthcare. This is the heart of what movements like 'hood feminism' emphasize: that issues of survival, community care, and systemic injustice are deeply feminist. It's about recognizing that you can't talk about women's liberation without addressing the daily realities of poverty, police brutality, or lack of access to essential services that disproportionately affect women of color or those from low-income backgrounds. These aren't just 'social issues'; they are fundamental feminist concerns. So, how can we all practice more inclusive feminism in our daily lives? It starts with listening – really listening – to the experiences of women who are different from us. Educate yourself on different perspectives, seek out diverse voices, and support initiatives that uplift all women, not just those who share your background. Challenge your own biases and be willing to step back and amplify others. Remember, as the article beautifully puts it, 'none of us have rights until all of us do!' When we embrace a feminism that is truly diverse and intersectional, we build a stronger, more resilient sisterhood for everyone. Let's keep learning and growing together!

If Feminism Offends You…That Says Enough
When equality feels like a threat, it reveals more than any label ever could. Feminism was never about superiority—it’s about basic human dignity, fairness, and equal rights. The resistance to that speaks volumes. Maybe the real issue isn’t the word “feminist”…it’s the discomfort with losing privil

I’m a feminist. If you have a hard time understanding that or you think it’s a “bad word” know that it’s simply just seeing women having the power and ability to do anything anyone else can do. The ability to allow women to make their own choices with their bodies and with their life. Women, living
