A day trip to Atlanta, Georgia❤️🔥❤️🔥
Last week, two of my friends and I went to Atlanta for the day and I wanted to share our itinerary! I have been to ATL plenty of times, but this trip was one of the most fun. Here is what we did:
🐠Georgia Aquarium
I actually did not want to go to the aquarium but was so happy I was talked into going! I enjoyed myself so much watching all the fish, sharks, and turtles. We also did the live seal show (included with your ticket) that was so cool. The dolphin show wasn’t happening when we were there, but that also looked fun too. Georgia Aquarium
☕️ Cafe Intermezzo
Hands down the number one place I take people in Atlanta. It is perfect for any and every occasion. Want a coffee and pastry? Want a late night cap? Catch up with friends over lunch? This is the place! Not to mention the vibes inside are so cute. Reminds me of a European coffee shop. HIGHLY recommend! Café Intermezzo - Midtown
🏀 Atlanta Hawks Game
I have never been to an NBA game but I had the most fun! The atmosphere is really cool even though I don’t care much about basketball. The fun activities and games they do during commercial breaks and half time also were really entertaining. Not to mention that had all types of food and snacks you could think off. I had a good ole hot dog and popcorn watching the game and felt like I peaked in life 🤩 Atlanta Hawks
🧇 Waffle House
It was late after the game ended so we had one more stop before headed home. After a fun filled day, we stopped to get good eats and to just talk about the day. This waffle house was right next to the arena, so many people and ATL hawks fans were there too. Such a fun atmosphere! Chocolate chip waffle is my go to late night sweet treat😍 Waffle House
Have you been to any of these places? I am always taking trips to Atlanta, so also drop your favorite places in the comments 🤗🤗🤗

Planning your perfect day trip in Atlanta, GA, can feel a bit overwhelming with so many amazing places to see, but with a little foresight, you can maximize your fun! Based on my recent unforgettable experience, I've gathered some crucial tips, especially for those looking to visit the iconic Georgia Aquarium and other city hotspots. First things first, if the Georgia Aquarium is on your list – and it absolutely should be – understanding the logistics is key. When I was looking into Georgia Aquarium hours, I found that they typically open around 9:00 AM or 10:00 AM and close between 5:00 PM and 9:00 PM, depending on the day of the week and season. Weekends and holidays usually have extended hours. My best advice? Always check their official website a few days before your visit for the most up-to-date schedule. This helps you plan your arrival to catch specific shows, like the incredible sea lion presentation we saw, or to avoid peak crowds. Regarding Atlanta Aquarium ticket prices, there are a few options to consider. General admission for adults usually ranges from $40-$50, with discounts for children and seniors. I highly recommend purchasing your tickets online in advance. Not only does it often save you a few dollars, but it also allows you to bypass the long lines at the ticket counter, giving you more time inside with the sharks and whale sharks! They also offer various packages, sometimes bundled with other nearby attractions like the World of Coca-Cola, which can be a great deal if you're planning to visit multiple spots. Look out for city passes too, as these can offer significant savings if you're exploring several Atlanta landmarks. Beyond the aquarium, our day trip flowed seamlessly thanks to strategically chosen spots. Cafe Intermezzo, for instance, isn't just about the coffee; it's an experience. Nestled in Midtown, it's a fantastic mid-day break or evening treat. I loved how it transports you to a European cafe with its charming ambiance and delicious pastries. It’s perfect for a leisurely lunch or just to grab a quick coffee and recharge before your next adventure. I remember thinking, 'This is exactly the kind of unique stop that makes a day trip memorable!' Catching an Atlanta Hawks game was another highlight, and even if you're not a huge basketball fan like me, the atmosphere at the arena is electric. If you're thinking of adding a game to your itinerary, check the NBA schedule well in advance. Tickets can vary widely in price depending on the opponent and seating, but even nosebleed seats offer a great view of the high-energy entertainment during commercial breaks and halftime. Getting to the arena is easy with Atlanta's MARTA public transport, which saves you the hassle and cost of parking downtown. And to cap off any eventful day in Atlanta, especially after a game, a stop at Waffle House is practically a rite of passage. The one we visited was buzzing with fellow Hawks fans, creating such a fun, authentic Atlanta vibe. It’s the perfect spot for some classic comfort food and a sweet treat like their chocolate chip waffle before heading home. It’s these local finds that truly round out a day trip, making it not just about seeing the sights, but experiencing the city's unique charm. To make your own Atlanta day trip as smooth as possible, consider using ride-shares or MARTA to navigate between attractions, especially downtown where parking can be tricky and expensive. Packing comfortable shoes is a must, as you'll likely be doing a lot of walking. And don't forget to stay hydrated! With a little planning using these tips, you're all set to spend an amazing day exploring Atlanta, GA, just like we did!
