Dogs and babies
Let’s talk about dogs and babies. I know every household is different and there are different circumstances to everything.
Our dog Wrex was apart of most of our pregnancy journey and let me tell you he loves his little brother already even though he isn’t home yet. He sleeps with his blanket from the hospital and is so gentle with it.
He sees pictures of him and he gets excited and when we come home from seeing him. He also gets excited but then really sad bc we don’t have his little brother with him.
He is being very gentle with me during my postpartum period and I feel like that shows what type of relationship he will have with our son. He gets more protective of the house but atleast we know he will always be safe as long as he has his pupo with him!!#postpartumrecovery #nicu #babyanddogbesties
Bringing a baby into a home with a dog can be an exciting adventure. Many families find that their furry friends play a crucial role in their children’s lives, providing companionship and love. To ensure a positive introduction between dogs and babies, it’s essential to prepare your pet for the new arrival. Start by gradually introducing your dog to baby items like blankets or toys, allowing them to familiarize themselves with the new scents and sounds. During the postpartum period, it's important to monitor your dog's behavior closely. Many dogs become protective, which can be a wonderful trait in ensuring the baby’s safety. On the other hand, some dogs may require extra attention to feel secure and not left out. Training and socialization are key aspects when preparing your dog for a new family member. Positive reinforcement techniques can help establish good behaviors as both pets and children grow together. Additionally, consider the importance of establishing boundaries. Teaching your dog where they can and cannot go around the baby can help prevent accidents or misunderstandings. Always supervise interactions between dogs and toddlers, as their curiosity can often lead to unexpected moments. Ultimately, the bond formed between dogs and babies can be one of the most joyful relationships in a household, creating lasting memories and experiences as they grow up together.
