Life after the NICU
Life in the NICU is hard and so is life after. The specialized medicines and formulas, the schedules that your baby is already on that you have to work around. The frustrations of baby not eating the amount you need in one feeding. You’re not alone! The sadness of missing your baby’s first days to weeks to months of life and being thrown into everything without anytime to get yourself ready.
The hardest part for me is his feeding schedule that he was on in the NICU versus my pumping schedule makes it hard. I pump every two hours to 2.5 and he eats every 3 so I have to pump before he’s ready to eat or it causes pain.
But just remember you’re not alone and there are groups and multiple resources for support for moms with NICU babies!!#preemieparent #preemiestrong #pumpingjourney
Life after the NICU can be an overwhelming experience for many parents. Adjusting to new feeding routines while managing the emotional toll of NICU life presents unique challenges. Many parents face difficulties such as establishing a feeding schedule that aligns with their baby's needs and their own pumping routine. It’s essential to seek support, which can be found through parenting groups and online forums like #preemieparent, #preemiestrong, and #pumpingjourney. These communities provide a valuable space for sharing experiences, advice, and encouragement. Equipping yourself with knowledge about premature infants, exploring resources for feeding techniques, and understanding the importance of self-care is crucial. Additionally, consider connecting with healthcare professionals who can offer personalized guidance tailored to your family’s specific situation and needs. Remember, adapting to life after the NICU is a process, and seeking help is a step towards nurturing both your baby and yourself.
