Things I’m Doing Differently with our Second Baby

•Will be meal prepping before delivery. The last thing I want to do is cook while also dealing with fresh postpartum things.

•Frequent chiropractor appointments can help align the spine and pelvis, allowing an easier delivery.

•Collecting colostrum between 36 weeks on can help induce milk along with natural labor.

• Pumping after every feeding, makes your body think baby needs more milk, allows the supply to keep up.

• Following the 5-5-5 rule. After delivery 5 days in the bed, 5 days on the bed, 5 days around the bed. My dr recommended spending the first 15 days on full rest, just tending to baby. I felt like I recovered fairly fast.

• We don’t want anyone to meet our second before our first does. We also want to spend our hospital days just the 3 of us since we won’t get a lot of time that way. #postpregnancy #postbirth #secondtimemom

One effective strategy is meal prepping before delivery, which ensures nutritious food availability during the demanding postpartum period when cooking may be difficult. Regular chiropractic appointments during pregnancy can improve spinal and pelvic alignment, potentially easing labor and delivery by reducing discomfort and promoting better positioning of the baby. An important breastfeeding preparation technique is collecting colostrum starting around 36 weeks. This practice can help stimulate milk production and may even encourage the onset of labor naturally. Post-delivery, pumping after every feeding signals the body to maintain and increase milk supply, supporting successful breastfeeding. The 5-5-5 postpartum rule is a valuable guideline: spending the first 5 days completely in bed, the next 5 days mostly in bed with some mobility, and the final 5 days gradually moving around. This phased rest approach helps the mother recover physically while attending lovingly to the newborn. Limiting hospital visitors to essential family members, especially ensuring the older sibling meets the new baby first, fosters a loving and calm environment for bonding. This private time allows the immediate family to adjust and enjoy their new dynamic without external pressure. Incorporating these thoughtful practices helps second-time parents manage their experience more smoothly, reduce stress, and promote both physical recovery and emotional connection during this special time.

my only regret with my first was how many people i let come at once when in the hospital 😂 while everyone respected my boundaries with baby, and waited until i was in recovery.. there was just alot of people in a very small room.
