From my personal experience, alternating between loose and tight hairstyles is key. Constantly pulling your hair into tight ponytails or braids can cause breakage and stress on the scalp. By switching it up, you allow your hair to recover and avoid tension-related damage. Air drying hair most of the time has been a game changer for me. Using heat tools daily can severely dry out hair, leading to split ends and dullness. Instead, I often braid my hair loosely before bed to wake up with gentle heatless waves, which reduce the need for hot styling. Regular trimming every 3 to 4 months is essential to keep split ends at bay. Even the healthiest hair can suffer if ends are neglected, so scheduling trims consistently helps maintain a neat and fresh look. Choosing quality hair products that do not pull or damage hair is another important step. I personally avoid products with alcohol or harsh sulfates, opting instead for moisturizing argan oil-based leave-in conditioners that detangle easily and lock in moisture. Applying leave-in conditioner on wet hair drastically reduces knots, making combing more comfortable and minimizing breakage. Combining these tips has helped me keep my hair hydrated, soft, and versatile enough for different hairstyles without causing damage. Building a hair care routine around these habits can benefit anyone wanting healthier, more resilient hair.
