One of our favourite Indonesian joints to go through if you are looking for a classic, reminds you of the Indo warungs kinda meal - YOI! 😤
Excellent quality Indonesian dishes, no matter which one you choose, and they serve so many!!! They even converted me to loving salted egg which I was never a fan of! 🥹
Perfect balance of saltiness and egginess, one doesn’t overpower the other, whether it be their bangin chicken burger (could do with more sauce though) with that hella juicy tender thigh fillet and quite big too or their salted egg rice bowls (this one was lathered in that delicious slightly spicy salted egg sauce) - AMAZING! 🤌
But apart from that all their dishes are honestly great, I mean we’ve come here so many times since they opened, it’s the place I recommend for anyone who wants to try Indonesian cuisine for the first time! 🫡

Visiting YOI Indonesian Fusion offers a delightful experience for anyone looking to explore authentic Indonesian cuisine in a halal-friendly setting. What stood out to me was their masterful use of salted egg—a beloved ingredient featured in multiple dishes. I was initially hesitant about salted egg flavors; however, YOI’s balanced approach truly showcased how this ingredient can enhance a dish without overpowering it. For example, the Rice Salted Egg Chicken packs a punch with its perfectly balanced, slightly spicy salted egg sauce coating tender chicken pieces. I found this combination comforting and flavorful, a true highlight for anyone new to Indonesian culinary traditions. Meanwhile, the Fried Chicken Salted Egg Burger features a juicy thigh fillet. Although I wished for a touch more sauce to elevate it, the texture and taste still made it a satisfying choice. Beyond the main dishes, their beverages like Salted Foam Matcha and Salted Foam Houjicha add a creative twist to traditional drinks, complementing the meal with subtle salty notes that refresh the palate. The cozy location on Franklin Street in Melbourne adds to the overall experience, making it ideal for both casual dining and introducing friends to halal Indonesian food. With consistent quality, diverse menu options, and friendly service, YOI has become my go-to spot for Indonesian fusion dishes. If you have never tried Indonesian food before, I highly recommend starting your culinary journey here for authentic flavors and a welcoming atmosphere.
