There’s so much more to running a small business than just making the product…setting up the website, editing, packing orders! slowly figuring it all out as I go!! Running a small business, especially one as personalized and creative as a custom press-on nail brand, involves much more than just crafting the product. From my experience, every step—from setting up an attractive and functional website to editing product photos and carefully packing orders—requires attention to detail and a willingness to learn on the fly. One of the biggest surprises was how much time and effort goes into the behind-the-scenes work that customers rarely see. For instance, maintaining an engaging online presence is crucial to attract and retain clients. This involves regular updates, responding to inquiries promptly, and showcasing new designs to keep the brand fresh. Packing orders is another critical duty. Ensuring that each set of nails is securely packed, presents well, and includes personal touches makes customers feel valued and more likely to return. I've learned to invest in quality packaging materials that protect the product during shipping and enhance the unboxing experience. Moreover, managing inventory and sourcing materials can be quite a balancing act to keep costs manageable while maintaining high quality. Patience and adaptability have been essential as I fine-tune these processes. Overall, this journey has been incredibly rewarding. Seeing customers excited about their custom press-on nails and receiving positive feedback motivates me to improve continually. If you’re considering starting a small business, especially in a creative field, prepare for a steep learning curve but also a fulfilling path that allows you to turn your passion into a livelihood.
