When I first embarked on my 7-week body transformation, one of the biggest changes I made was transitioning from a calorie deficit to a calorie surplus. For so long, I'd been focused on cutting, but to truly build muscle and gain strength, my body needed more fuel. I aimed for a modest surplus, usually an extra 300-500 calories per day, focusing primarily on high protein intake – roughly 1 gram per pound of my body weight. This meant prioritizing lean meats, eggs, Greek yogurt, and protein shakes. Don't forget healthy fats and complex carbs; they're vital for energy and hormone function. Tracking my macros initially was super helpful to ensure I was hitting my targets consistently. Alongside my diet, my training philosophy completely changed. I adopted a mix of strength and hypertrophy training, focusing on making every rep count for muscle growth. Mind-muscle connection (MTM connection) was a game-changer; I actively concentrated on squeezing the target muscle throughout every movement. Increasing my time under tension (TUT) by slowing down reps, especially the eccentric phase, also proved incredibly effective. My training schedule involved lifting 4-5 days/week, typically following an upper/lower or push/pull/legs split, always striving for progressive overload. But truly, my transformation wouldn't have been possible without prioritizing recovery. I made it a non-negotiable to get sleeping 8+ hours/night – that's when your body repairs and rebuilds. Proper hydration was also key; I aimed for at least 1/2 gallon of water min/day. Carrying a large water bottle everywhere helped me achieve this. Beyond just sleep and water, maintaining a consistent training schedule while also listening to my body for active recovery was crucial. This 7-week journey wasn't just about physical changes; it was a huge mental shift. There were days I felt tired, but seeing even small improvements kept me motivated. This transformation has made me feel incredibly strong and confident in my own skin. It's amazing how much better you feel when you're nourishing your body and challenging it. And yes, feeling great in my clothes, like my leggings, is a wonderful bonus! It's not about 'fixing' anything, but about building a stronger, healthier me that feels great from the inside out. Remember, a 7-week transformation is a fantastic start, but consistency is the real key to long-term success. Keep pushing, keep learning, and celebrate every step!
