Why eloping was the best decision.

I eloped and it was the best decision I could have made.

I’m stationed in Guam and my husband is stationed in Norfolk. To live somewhere that I can literally walk onto the beach and marry my favorite person. Even though the long distance is difficult I will forever be grateful that it was intimate and peaceful with no crazy stress of trying to plan a wedding.

... Read moreEloping offers a unique opportunity to create a memorable and personalized wedding experience. In my own journey, choosing to elope allowed me and my husband to focus solely on each other without the overwhelming pressure of traditional wedding planning. Since we were stationed in different places—me in Guam and him in Norfolk—the idea of a large ceremony was not only logistically complicated but also emotionally draining. One of the biggest advantages of eloping was the intimacy it provided. Instead of being surrounded by a large crowd, it was just the two of us in a stunning location that held special meaning. Being able to walk straight onto a beach and say our vows amidst the soothing sound of waves was incredibly calming and beautiful. This peaceful setting helped us stay present and truly enjoy the moment. Despite the difficulties of long-distance, eloping made our wedding feel authentic and stress-free. There was no need to coordinate countless vendors, seating charts, or decorations—just simple, heartfelt moments. For couples considering elopement, especially those dealing with distance or wanting to avoid the pressures of big weddings, it can be a liberating and joyful alternative. Moreover, eloping often results in significant financial savings since there’s no need for a large venue or extensive guest lists. This can reduce stress about budgets and allow couples to invest in experiences that matter most to them, such as a honeymoon or meaningful activities together. In the end, eloping was the best decision because it allowed us to start our married life on our own terms, focusing on what truly matters: our commitment and love for each other in a peaceful environment.
