I LOVE MAKING MEMORIES WITH MY BABIES!
A few years back I took my nephew on his first plane ride, and we went on vacation to Florida. Fast forward to August of this year and I was able to do the same for my niece!
She had a blast and I cannot wait for our next trip!
Oh, the thrill of planning a Florida getaway, especially with little ones! I remember the moment we saw 'FLORIDA HERE WE COME!!' on the boarding pass – pure magic. For anyone dreaming of their own Sunshine State adventure, especially if it's a first flight for your 'babies,' here are a few things I learned to make the most of your precious time there. First, for 'Our Flight Boarding' experience, packing smart is key! Think about what will keep them entertained during the flight – small toys, activity books, snacks, and perhaps a tablet with their favorite shows saved offline. A comfy neck pillow for those little heads can make a world of difference for naps. I also pack a change of clothes in my carry-on for unexpected spills, and always bring an empty water bottle to fill up after security. Making the journey part of the fun, not just a means to an end, truly sets the tone for the whole trip. Once you land, Florida offers so much more than just theme parks! While Sarasota and Bradenton, where we visited, have beautiful beaches and family-friendly attractions like the Mote Marine Laboratory & Aquarium, there are countless other gems. Consider exploring the Everglades for a unique airboat ride and wildlife spotting, visiting the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex for an out-of-this-world experience, or even discovering charming historic towns like St. Augustine with its ancient forts and cobblestone streets. Each region offers a different flavor of Florida magic. To truly maximize your time and ensure everyone has a blast, I always recommend planning a loose itinerary but leaving plenty of room for spontaneity. Some of the best memories are made when you stumble upon a hidden gem, discover a local ice cream shop, or simply spend an afternoon building sandcastles without a strict schedule. Don't try to cram too much into one day, especially with kids. Prioritize what truly excites everyone and be flexible – sometimes the best plan is no plan at all! Hydration is also super important in the Florida heat, so carry water bottles and make sure everyone is drinking regularly. Sunscreen is non-negotiable, and seek shade during the hottest parts of the day. A quick afternoon nap or quiet time can recharge everyone for evening fun. And speaking of memories, capture them! Whether it's countless photos, short videos, or even a small travel journal for the kids to draw in, these moments are fleeting. Seeing my niece's face light up as she saw the ocean for the first time or her excitement during 'Our Flight Boarding' are moments I’ll cherish forever. Florida truly is a place where unforgettable family memories are made, no matter what time of year you visit. I'm already brainstorming our next adventure, hoping to explore even more of what this incredible state has to offer, and can't wait to hear about your Florida adventures too!
