Cheers to being frugal and not cheap 🥂💰✨

7/6 Edited to

... Read moreWhen I started my journey toward saving my first $100k, I realized that being frugal is not about spending the least amount possible but about making thoughtful decisions. This distinction between frugal and cheap changed my entire approach to budgeting. For example, initially, I purchased inexpensive clothes and food, thinking I was saving money. However, the cheap items didn’t last and sometimes cost me more in the long run due to replacements or health issues. Being frugal means prioritizing value and quality that supports your goals. Budgeting can feel restrictive if approached with the wrong mindset. I used to avoid tracking my spending because I feared it would limit my freedom. But once I embraced budgeting as a tool for freedom rather than restriction, it gave me clarity and control over my finances. A practical tip is to allocate expenses clearly, such as rent, groceries, dining, shopping, and entertainment, just like breaking down your spending into categories. This helps prevent overspending and guides your choices for better money management. Another game changer was using a budgeting and saving app. Before, I had no real direction or motivation. Now, tracking progress toward specific savings goals—like an emergency fund, a trip, or a new laptop—keeps me motivated and accountable. Seeing my savings percentages increase daily made reaching targets feel achievable. Plus, it helped me balance spending and saving better. Overall, learning to be frugal with a focus on value and mindful budgeting transformed how I approach money. It’s about smart spending, keeping quality in mind, and utilizing tools to support your unique goals. If you want to build wealth and financial security, I recommend starting by distinguishing frugality from cheapness and incorporating regular budgeting with clear goals.
