FOR ME BENETINT IS A…
It’s a 6/10 for me😳😳
Don’t get me wrong, the stain does last a long time and once you get enough product it does look quite natural, however I just can’t get over the smell!!!
The benetint smells SO BAD. I’ve put it on my lips and I just can’t stand the smell it’s pretty chemical like, please tell me yall know what I’m talking about😩

Okay, so let's talk more about Benetint, because while my initial review gave it a 6/10 due to that surprising smell, there's definitely more to unpack, especially when you're thinking about adding a new lip and cheek stain to your routine! First off, what is Benetint actually *for*? This iconic little rose-tinted bottle is designed to give you a natural, long-lasting flush on both your lips and cheeks. It's meant to look like your own natural color, just enhanced. I've found it's super versatile – you can go for a subtle wash of color, which is perfect for an everyday look, or build it up for a more pronounced, vibrant stain. Just like the images show, a single coat on the back of my hand gave a lovely subtle pink stain, but layering it for three coats really intensifies that gorgeous pop of color that lasts throughout the day. Now, let's tackle the big question: why is Benetint so expensive? I totally get why people ask this! It's one of those cult-favorite products with a long history, dating back to the 70s. Part of the price comes from Benefit's brand reputation and the concentrated formula. A little really does go a long way, so one bottle can last ages. While I personally struggled with the smell, many find that the longevity and natural finish make it worth the investment. It really boils down to what you prioritize in a product. If you're looking for something that truly stays put and gives a 'my lips but better' look, the cost might be justified for you. Another common query I've seen is, 'does Benetint cause acne?' Generally, liquid tints like Benetint are considered lighter on the skin compared to cream or stick blushes, which can sometimes be more occlusive. Benetint is often formulated to be non-comedogenic, meaning it's less likely to clog pores. However, everyone's skin is different! If you have very sensitive or acne-prone skin, I'd always recommend doing a small patch test behind your ear or on your jawline before applying it all over your cheeks. Always check the ingredient list if you know you have specific sensitivities. And for those wondering about 'Benetint old packaging' or 'is it real or fake,' it's good to be aware. Brands sometimes update their packaging, so a slight difference from an old photo doesn't necessarily mean it's fake. The best way to ensure you're getting a real product is to always purchase from authorized retailers, whether that's Benefit Cosmetics directly, reputable department stores, or well-known beauty retailers. This minimizes the risk of getting a counterfeit product. Finally, for anyone looking for tips on a 'long-wearing evening look' with a lip stain, Benetint can definitely be part of that! Here's how I make any lip stain last: Prep is Key: Start with smooth lips. Gently exfoliate with a lip scrub or a damp cloth, then apply a light lip balm. Let it sink in for a few minutes, then blot off any excess. Layer Up: Apply your rose-tinted lip and cheek stain in thin layers. Apply one coat, let it dry for a few seconds, then apply another. This builds intensity and helps it adhere better, just like building up from one coat to three coats for a more pronounced pink stain. Lip Liner Magic: For extra definition and to prevent bleeding, outline and even lightly fill in your lips with a lip liner that matches your natural lip color or the stain. Apply the stain over this. Blot and Set: After your final layer of stain, gently blot with a tissue. For maximum staying power, you can lightly dust a translucent setting powder over your stained lips – this really locks the color in without making it look chalky. This technique works wonders for an evening out when you want your lip color to last through drinks and dinner!
