Irish twins

I had my second baby last November and the day she was born, my oldest (5) came to meet her in the hospital- she walked up to me, kissed my belly and said “now baby brothers in there”. Tell me why 2 months later, I tested pregnant AGAIN!! We just found out a few weeks ago that it is in fact a boy, finally!!

Now baby boy is due a month before baby girl turns 1.

I wasn’t sure it was a good idea to carry out this pregnancy at first, I was worried it would be unfair to my girls. My youngest daughter won’t even have a full year of my to herself and that hurts my heart but ultimately we didn’t have it in us to make any other decisions but to open our hearts a little bit more and welcome another sweet soul into our family and ultimately I think it was 110% the right choice no matter how many people think we’re crazy!!

But I have to say that doesn’t mean I’m not TERRIFIED. I’m already exhausted, overstimulated and overwhelmed with what is on our plate. We don’t have very much help at all and my god parents that do help are getting old and burnt out themselves!

So yeah! If you have Irish twins, or even 2 under 2 please give me all your expertise and advice!

Parents in this scenario may find themselves overwhelmed, often managing two infants or toddlers simultaneously. Key strategies for coping include establishing a flexible routine that accommodates both children and utilizing support networks where available. The benefits of having siblings so close in age can be substantial. They often become best friends early on, sharing developmental milestones and creating a bond that can last a lifetime. However, it is essential for parents to ensure that each child receives individual attention and care, promoting a healthy emotional growth environment. It's vital to connect with other parents to share experiences, tips, and support. Online forums and local parent groups can serve as a great resource to obtain practical advice on handling everything from sleep schedules to meal planning. Additionally, planning for individual time with each child can help strengthen parental bonds and support their emotional needs, making sure no child feels overlooked. Embracing this unique parenting journey is key. Every challenge faced can provide invaluable lessons for both parents and children, nurturing resilience and adaptability in your growing family. Remember, it’s perfectly okay to seek help and share your experiences with others who understand the demands of parenting children born so close together.

I have Irish twins and I’m not going to lie, it is the hardest thing I’ve ever done in my life. I have a 12/24 baby and a 11/25 baby! But that being said, things happen for a reason and my sweet girls I wouldn’t trade for anything in this world. Learning to divide your time between the two is the hardest part and feeling like you aren’t giving one enough attention. Like I said, it’s rough but worth it! You got this mama!
