Discover The Most Adorable Bookstore in Palo Alto!

I discovered the most adorable bookstore in Palo Alto this weekend!

BooksInc have a bunch of great finds, and you can donate books to incarcerated individuals through prisonlit.org.

They also have their own spin on “blind date with a book,” where you can choose a mystery read based on clues!

Bookstores like this are the ones that make me want to buy every single book I come across! It was such a nice solo date, and I suggest checking them out!

Also, have you ever heard of the Prisoners' Literature Project? I’m hoping to go back to donate!

... Read moreVisiting Books Inc. in Palo Alto quickly made me appreciate how bookstores can offer so much more than just shelves of books. One standout feature is their "Blind Date with a Book" section, where you choose a book based solely on intriguing clues rather than the cover or author. This surprise element makes picking out a new read exciting and fun, especially for those who enjoy trying genres they might not normally explore. Another inspiring aspect is their involvement with prisonlit.org, a nonprofit organization that sends books to incarcerated readers. Books Inc. supports this initiative by encouraging customers to purchase books from a special shelf and leave them at the register. Volunteers then mail these books to individuals in prison who often lack access to quality reading materials. Having the opportunity to contribute to this cause brought a new sense of purpose to my visit, knowing that books can be a powerful source of comfort and education for incarcerated people. The store itself has a warm, welcoming vibe, making it a perfect spot for a solo date or a relaxed day browsing. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable, always ready with recommendations if you’re searching for something specific. Plus, they stock a thoughtful selection of banned books, educating visitors about the importance of free access to diverse perspectives. During my visit, I also took note of their carefully curated psychology section, featuring notable works like "The Righteous Mind" and "Why Good People Are Divided by Politics and Religion," which reflects their commitment to offering intellectually enriching reads. Overall, Books Inc. is a gem in Palo Alto for any book lover who values community impact, unique literary experiences, and a cozy atmosphere. I’m excited to return and hopefully donate more books to the Prisoners’ Literature Project. If you’re ever in the area, I highly recommend stopping by. It’s a bookstore that not only fuels your love for reading but also allows you to make a meaningful difference through the power of books.
