Sober Recovery journey
I’ve been on this journey (or rather roller coaster) for a few years now. Never able to stay sober longer than 2 months. And sometimes it takes me months to get back to it. But just because it hasn’t worked in the past, doesn’t mean I can’t make it happen this time.
I have finally gotten my mental health ( I’m bipolar) in a good place, finally on the right medication and years of therapy.
I’m working full time, and just started college part time, so I have no time for hangovers and staying up all night. And I really can’t afford the habits anymore.
So here is to starting over again.
I’m posting my journey on here because it’s an anonymous and nonjudgmental app.
Hoping this gives me some accountability and desire to keep going when it gets tough.

Embarking on a sober recovery journey can be a transformative experience. It's important to understand that it's not just about quitting substances, but also about establishing a supportive lifestyle conducive to long-term sobriety. Joining support groups, whether in-person or online, can provide a nonjudgmental space for sharing experiences, offering encouragement, and holding each other accountable. Incorporating healthy habits into your daily routine is crucial. Engage in activities that promote mental and physical health, like exercise, meditation, or journaling. These practices not only help manage mood swings and cravings but also reinforce your commitment to sobriety. Explore various coping mechanisms for dealing with triggers, such as stress or social pressure, which can lead to relapse. Consider reaching out to a therapist who specializes in addiction recovery to tailor strategies that suit your individual needs. Resources like hotlines or local recovery centers can also be invaluable. Setting realistic goals is another essential element of recovery. Start with small, achievable milestones, and celebrate your victories, no matter how minor they may seem. This approach fosters a sense of accomplishment and motivates you to continue moving forward. Finally, remember that recovery is a journey, not a destination. There will be ups and downs, but maintaining a positive outlook and seeking support when needed can make a significant difference. Recovery is not just possible; it can lead to a fulfilling and enriching life.
