How I Bible Study 📚
Hey guys! So lately I have been digging more into God’s word and I just thought I’d show you how I bible study.
I personally like to use my physical bible, but sometimes I’ll use my iPad just because the words are bigger than on my phone. My pastor also gave me this book called “First Steps” (second slide) which breaks down how to be a follower of christ, and also understanding what it means.
I am the type of person that needs to highlight things to understand it fully, so I always make sure I have my highlighters. I break down what i’m highlighting in my “First Steps” book into three categories :
1) Instructions. — If the book tells me to do something, I highlight it yellow and I do it. It makes it not only easier for the future to not miss, but also embeds into my brain to remember to do it.
2) Verses. — If I see a verse written, whether it’s just the chapter and verse number or the whole verse written, I highlight it pink.
3) Prayers. — Throughout the book they will put prayers in for you to recite, and I highlight them orange to stand out.
In this book they ask questions and give you a spot to write them down, so I use my pencil and answer to the best of my capabilities at the time.
This book is definitely helping me out to figure out how my faith is impacting my life, and I honestly would recommend it to anyone else.
I will say that I really am just starting and this is all very new to me as well, so any tips or tricks you guys have is super appreciated!! ❤️

Hi everyone! It's so inspiring to see how many of us are starting our journey to delve deeper into God's word. Building on the wonderful tips already shared, I wanted to add a few more thoughts that have really helped me as a beginner in Bible study. It’s all about finding what works for you, but these ideas might just spark something new in your routine! First off, don’t feel overwhelmed. Starting a consistent Bible study can seem daunting, but remember, every little bit counts. One thing that has transformed my approach is realizing that Bible study isn't just about reading; it's about engaging with the text. Beyond highlighting, try incorporating a simple journaling practice. After you finish reading a passage, ask yourself: 'What did this passage teach me about God?', 'What did it teach me about myself or the world?', and 'How can I apply this to my life today?' Writing down your reflections helps solidify what you've learned and makes it more personal. Another great tip for beginners, especially if you're using resources like the 'First Steps' book (which is fantastic, by the way – I've heard great things about the insights from authors like Bryan Koch and Daniel McNaughton!), is to not be afraid to explore different translations. Sometimes, a different version of the Bible can illuminate a passage you found confusing before. Online tools like BibleGateway or YouVersion can be super helpful for comparing translations side-by-side. They also offer wonderful audio Bibles if you prefer to listen while you're on the go! Creating your own dedicated 'Bible study setup' can also make a huge difference in consistency. It doesn't have to be fancy – just a quiet corner where you can arrange your Bible, your 'First Steps' book, those colorful highlighters, and maybe a comfy blanket and a cup of tea. Having everything ready makes it easier to sit down and focus without distractions. Think of it as your personal sacred space. What if you don't understand something? That's completely normal! The Bible is deep. Don't let confusion deter you. Instead, make a note of your questions. You can revisit them later, look them up in a study Bible or commentary, or even discuss them with a trusted pastor or a fellow believer. Remember, it's a journey of discovery, not a test. Lastly, and this is a big one for me, don't underestimate the power of prayer. Before you begin your study, ask God to open your heart and mind to His word. After you finish, pray for understanding and for the strength to apply what you've learned. It truly transforms the experience from just reading a book to having a conversation with God. I'm still learning and growing in my faith, and these are just a few things that have made my Bible study feel more accessible and meaningful. What are your favorite tips for diving into scripture? Share them below – we're all in this together!

I need to try this 🥰
