Genesis 50:20

There are moments in life when the pain feels intentional. The betrayal feels personal. The setback feels calculated. You look at what happened and you know they meant it for evil. They meant to harm you. They meant to break you. They meant to embarrass you. They meant to stop you.

But Genesis 50:20 reminds us of something powerful.

“You thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good…”

Joseph spoke those words after being betrayed by his own brothers, sold into slavery, falsely accused, imprisoned, and forgotten, yet positioned by GOD to save many lives. What others plotted as destruction, GOD used as divine preparation.

This scripture is not saying evil is good. It is saying GOD is sovereign over evil.

It means

The betrayal did not cancel your purpose.

The delay did not cancel your calling.

The hardship did not cancel your destiny.

The attack did not surprise GOD.

What someone intended to diminish you, GOD can use to develop you.

When people operate out of jealousy, fear, insecurity, or hatred, they see only the moment. But GOD sees the end from the beginning. What feels like a setback may actually be a setup for elevation.

Sometimes GOD allows the pit so He can prepare you for the palace.

Sometimes He allows the pruning so there can be greater fruit.

Sometimes He allows you to be misunderstood so your faith can mature in private before He promotes you in public.

“They meant it for evil, but GOD meant it for good” means you can rest in confidence knowing no weapon formed against you can override GOD’S plan. It means what was designed to shame you can become the very testimony that strengthens others. It means what broke you yesterday can build someone else tomorrow.

And that is why we walk by faith.

Because even when we do not understand the process, we trust the promise.

If you are in a season where it feels like everything came against you, hold on. GOD is still writing your story. And what looks like loss today may become legacy tomorrow.

What was meant to destroy you may be the very thing GOD uses to position you.

Stay faithful. Stay grateful. Stay anchored.

GOD is working it for your good. 🙏✨#jesus #harmony2SF #faith #peace #joy

... Read moreReflecting on Genesis 50:20, I've realized that life can sometimes feel overwhelmingly difficult, especially when hurt or betrayal comes from those closest to us. Like Joseph, who endured slavery and imprisonment, many of us face moments where pain feels purposeful and devastating. However, embracing the belief that God can turn what was meant for evil into good helps reshape our perspective and empowers us to persevere. In my own experience, challenges initially seemed like roadblocks—loss of opportunities, broken relationships, and unexpected delays. But with time and faith, those very struggles became foundations for personal growth and avenues toward new blessings. For instance, being overlooked in one role led me to pursue a passion I had neglected, which now brings fulfillment I never anticipated. Understanding that setbacks can be divine setups changes how we respond to adversity. It encourages patience, resilience, and gratitude even when the journey is tough. This mindset also reminds us that not all hardship is punishment; sometimes, it's preparation. Furthermore, leaning into community and faith resources during these times has been essential. Surrounding yourself with supportive people and nurturing your spiritual beliefs can provide strength and clarity. Just as Joseph's story encourages us, our own narratives are still being written. The valley seasons serve a purpose, shaping us for future elevation. Lastly, trust that the pain endured is not wasted but often becomes a testimony that inspires and uplifts others. Walking by faith means holding onto hope and embracing the possibility that God’s sovereign plan will ultimately work for good, turning trials into triumphs.
