Preparing for your Baby Shower
I must let this be known - my baby shower was during Covid so I had a drive by shower (which was honestly so convenient and amazing lol). However, I’ve complied a list of items/activities that would work for any style baby shower!
If there wasn’t a pandemic, I would have loved decorating and setting up a venue for my shower. It’s important to create a memorable and enjoyable event for your guests who are there to celebrate you and your beautiful baby!
Here’s how I would best prepare for planning my baby shower:
🌷pick a date and time: baby showers are typically held during the mothers third trimester
🌷select a venue: popular locations for baby showers are someone’s home, a restaurant, community center, or another venue
🌷create a guest list and send invitations: send invitations via mail, or create a Facebook invite for convenience (just be sure to notify those who don’t have Facebook another way)
🌷choose a theme and get decor: Target, Amazon, Walmart, or a local party store will have everything you need to complete your baby shower dreams!
🌷games and activities: plan games and activities for your guests to enjoy, and give them a chance to win prizes!
🌷 gift opening: decide if you’d like to open gifts during the shower, or do it privately once the event is over. Doing it privately allows more time for the mother to converse and visit with guests!
🌷photography: dedicate a person to take pictures, or even hire a photographer to help you remember your special day
Your baby shower is a chance for those you love to celebrate your little bundle of joy. You are going to be prepared to welcome your baby, and melt over all of the adorable baby items you were gifted! Enjoy your day mama, you deserve it!

Okay mamas, building on my initial tips, I wanted to dive a little deeper into making your baby shower truly spectacular and stress-free! I know how much goes into planning, and sometimes you just need a bit more guidance, especially with those little details that make a big difference. Let's talk baby shower timelines! While I mentioned picking a date, a more detailed roadmap can really ease your mind. From my experience, starting around the 20-24 week mark (early in your third trimester) is perfect. Here's a rough guide I wish I had: 12-16 Weeks Before (Early Second Trimester): *Set your budget:* This guides all your other decisions. *Draft your guest list:* Start gathering addresses early for those invitations! *Choose your hosts:* Will it be family, friends, or a mix? *Pick your date & time:* Consider guest availability and your energy levels. Baby showers are typically held during the mother’s third trimester, ideally around 28-34 weeks. *Brainstorm themes:* Get inspired by colors, potential nursery designs, or even baby names! 8-10 Weeks Before: *Book your venue:* Especially if it's a popular location or you need catering. Think someone’s home, a restaurant, or a community center. *Send out 'Save the Dates':* Especially helpful if many guests are traveling or have busy schedules. *Create your baby registry:* Share it with your hosts to include in invitations, making it easy for guests to pick out those adorable baby items. 4-6 Weeks Before: *Send invitations:* Mail them out or send digital invites. Remember to follow up with non-Facebook users if you go digital! *Plan games & activities:* Don't forget prizes to make it fun and engaging for your guests! *Order decor and supplies:* Target, Amazon, Walmart, or a local party store will have everything you need to complete your baby shower dreams. 2-3 Weeks Before: *Confirm RSVPs:* Follow up with anyone who hasn't responded. *Finalize menu/catering:* If applicable. *Assemble favor bags or prizes.* 1 Week Before: *Confirm with photographers/vendors.* Dedicate a person to take pictures, or even hire a professional to help you remember your special day. *Delegate tasks to helpers:* Don't try to do it all yourself! Your loved ones want to support you. *Relax and get excited!* Now, about those precious memories! You'll be taking so many photos, and finding the perfect caption can be fun. Here are some ideas I love for baby shower pics, whether it's a mirror selfie with your bump or a group shot with loved ones: Sweet & Sentimental: 'Feeling so loved and showered with joy! Baby [Baby's Name/initial] is already so lucky.' 'Our hearts (and our home!) are growing by the day. Thank you for celebrating with us!' 'Counting down the days until we meet our little miracle. So grateful for this overwhelming love.' 'The best is yet to come! Thank you for showering our little one with so much love and thoughtful gifts.' 'My heart is full. The love for our baby is already so strong!' Funny & Playful: 'Officially showered and ready for baby duty (mostly!).' 'Operation: Baby Shower was a huge success! Now accepting unsolicited advice and coffee.' 'Warning: May spontaneously cry from all the cuteness. And hormones.' 'Pretty sure I just won the baby shower game for 'most pregnant.' 'So much love in one room, and so many tiny outfits!' Focus on Gifts/Nursery (as highlighted in the image text about 'adorable baby items'): 'Beyond grateful for all these adorable baby items! Our nursery is almost complete.' 'Seriously melting over these tiny shoes and onesies! Thank you, everyone!' Speaking of excitement, it's wild to think about how much our little ones grow inside! While planning my shower, I loved tracking my baby's development. It made everything feel so real and connected to the upcoming celebration. Around the time you're having your shower (typically the third trimester), your baby is growing rapidly! For instance, at 28 weeks, your little one is often compared to an eggplant, weighing about 2.2 pounds. By 32 weeks, they might be the size of a large jicama or a head of lettuce, around 3.7 pounds. And closer to 36 weeks, many babies are the size of a honeydew melon, weighing about 5.5 to 6 pounds! It's such an amazing journey, and every week brings you closer to holding that precious bundle. These size comparisons always made me smile and feel even more connected to the tiny human I was celebrating with my loved ones. You are going to be prepared to welcome your baby, and melt over all of the adorable baby items you were gifted! Enjoy your day mama, you deserve it!
