CALLING ALL MOMS | What’s Your Typical Weekend?

Hi! Happy Monday!!! 🫶🏼

I hope you enjoyed your weekend doing whatever made you happiest.

Our weekend was busy! We went to my niece’s 6th birthday dinner with family Friday evening and the little cousins had a blast together. Saturday, we took the kids to an indoor play park, then came home and prepped for vacation. On Sunday we went to a playground for some fun outdoor time, then family dinner with grandparents in the evening!

In a few weeks our weekend plans really ramp up between birthday parties, and fun summer activities with family and friends. I’m soaking in all the calm until then!

What do your weekends typically look like this time of year? Are they still relaxing, or busy? I definitely love a good mix of both!

... Read moreIt’s so interesting how we all navigate our weekends differently as moms, isn't it? When I hear 'strict mother’s daily routine,' my mind immediately goes to a perfectly scheduled day, every minute accounted for. While that sounds appealing in theory for some, my reality, especially with a busy toddler and a baby, often looks a little more like organized chaos – and I wouldn't have it any other way! My own "weekend recap" often involves a beautiful blend of planned activities and spontaneous moments. For instance, last weekend was a whirlwind: a family birthday dinner on Friday, then Saturday was dedicated to an indoor play park where my toddler burned off endless energy, followed by some serious vacation prep at home. Sunday brought a trip to the playground and a big family dinner. It’s definitely not a strict routine, but there’s a rhythm to it that works for us. I've learned that for us, a truly 'strict' routine simply isn't sustainable or enjoyable. Kids thrive on some predictability, but also on flexibility and fun. Instead of trying to adhere to a rigid schedule, I focus on a few key anchors each day: meal times, nap times (for the baby, wish the toddler still did!), and bedtime. Everything else flows around that. This allows us to say 'yes' to last-minute playground trips or extending a visit with grandparents, making for richer family memories. One of my biggest tips for managing a busy mom weekend, especially with little ones, is to be prepared with snacks! Seriously, "Snacks ARE MY LOVE LANGUAGE" is a mantra in our house. Having a bag of easy, healthy snacks on hand – fruit pouches, crackers, cheese sticks – can be a lifesaver when you're out and about or even just transitioning between activities at home. It keeps meltdowns at bay and keeps everyone fueled for fun. Another thing that helps immensely is involving the kids in age-appropriate ways. Even a toddler can help pick out their clothes for the day or decide which toy to pack for the park. It gives them a sense of control and reduces resistance. For bigger kids, they can help with packing bags or setting the table for family meals. It teaches responsibility and makes them feel like part of the team. Ultimately, whether your weekend is meticulously planned or delightfully chaotic, the goal is to make it meaningful for your family. Don’t feel pressured to fit into a 'strict' mold if it doesn’t suit your family’s dynamic. Embrace the beautiful mess, cherish the little moments, and find what works best for your unique family routine. Every mom's journey is different, and that's perfectly okay. What are your go-to strategies for making the most of your family weekends?
