Choosing an OBGYN for Pregnancy

Choosing the right doctor for your pregnancy is a super important decision. You want someone who can provide you a positive experience, and high quality care that is unique to you personally.

What I looked for when choosing my Obstetrician (OB) were these following qualities:

-I wanted someone who would take my needs seriously. I never wanted to feel dismissed in what I was experiencing whether it was mentally, emotionally, or physically.

-I chose a doctor who I could trust to provide the best care and treatment for myself and my baby. My doctor has decades of experience in maternal fetal care, which made me very trusting of her abilities to bring my baby to term safely.

-I felt comfortable with my doctor, and we grew a strong relationship. The rapport we built together allowed us to both follow our instincts to foster a happy pregnancy. If the vibe is off with your doctor, or you get an uneasy feeling with the care you are provided, discuss your options of switching doctors to find the best fit for you.

... Read moreChoosing an OBGYN involves considering key qualities that align with your personal needs. Look for an obstetrician who listens and values your experiences, as a collaborative relationship fosters better care. Experience in maternal-fetal medicine is important, providing you with confidence in their ability to handle your unique pregnancy needs. Moreover, comfort and rapport with your doctor can significantly impact your pregnancy journey. A trusting relationship allows you to openly discuss concerns, while a mismatch might require finding another practitioner. Researching doctors through reviews, recommendations, and consultations before making a decision can also help. Stay informed about your options, ensuring your care is in line with your preferences. Additionally, consider the location and availability of your OBGYN, as accessibility plays a crucial role in managing appointments and emergencies. Making this choice carefully can enhance your overall pregnancy experience, ensuring you feel supported and cared for throughout this exciting time.
