Dominican Republic 🏖️
When visiting Santo Domingo, there's so much more to explore beyond the usual tourist spots. I personally loved spending time at the Colonial Zone, where history comes alive in stunning architecture and cobblestone streets. For a break from sightseeing, the Malecón offers a beautiful waterfront to relax and people-watch, especially during sunset. One of my favorite activities was tasting authentic Dominican cuisine at local markets and small eateries you might miss if you only stick to big restaurants. Trying "mangu" for breakfast or fresh seafood by the coast made the experience much richer. If you enjoy cultural experiences, attending live music events or finding local artisans’ shops can give you a deeper connection to the city’s vibrant spirit. Also, consider a day trip to nearby beaches like Boca Chica or Juan Dolio, which are perfect for some fun and relaxation. Exploring Santo Domingo's parks and plazas during quieter times allowed me to appreciate the city's everyday life and friendly atmosphere. Whether you prefer historical tours, outdoor adventures, or simply soaking up local culture, Santo Domingo truly offers a wide range of activities to suit all travelers.
