Happy Heavenly Birthday, Dad.

A beautiful day. The sun is shining… and my dad would have been 78 today.

I didn’t have the words.

Not new ones anyway.

I’ve said so much over the years, in so many different ways.

But today felt different.

Then I opened LinkedIn and came across a post from someone I’ve come to see as a mentor… and now a supportive friend in this space.

And somehow, the words found me.

It made me realize something I hadn’t fully said out loud before…

Love doesn’t end.

Legacy doesn’t end.

Voice doesn’t end.

It multiplies.

Through art.

Through community.

Through the way we keep showing up for something bigger than ourselves.

Dad, this is my gift to you today…

your voice multiplied.

💛

In my own experience, I found comfort and purpose through creative expression and connecting with communities who share similar stories. Art, in particular, became a vital outlet — from painting to writing — allowing me to keep my loved one’s memory alive and feel a continued connection. One poignant example is the power of awareness campaigns about rare diseases like amyloidosis. These efforts not only honor those we’ve lost, such as Erin Poyant’s tribute to her sister Phyllis, but also help others understand and support affected families. Sharing stories publicly, whether on social platforms like LinkedIn or through artistic projects, can amplify our voice and multiply our love beyond personal boundaries. Participating in communities centered on grief and growth inspires healing through shared experience. It reminds us that while our loved ones are no longer physically present, their voices and impact live on in the gifts they left behind — in memories, lessons, and the collective strength we build together. Finding ways to show up for something bigger than ourselves, especially through art and advocacy, transforms individual grief into a legacy of hope and awareness for others. Ultimately, this journey highlights that love, voice, and legacy don’t end with loss; they evolve and multiply through our ongoing commitment to remember, create, and support each other.
