Let’s talk pregnancy cravings… 🙈🧊
What was, or is your pregnancy cravings?!
Well if you’re anything like me and a lot of other pregnant mamas, you HAVE to have ice during pregnancy.
And before you say it, yes…. I did have pregnancy anemia.
It went away after birth. Definitely a good thing for my teeth! 😫
I have now had this craving for two of my pregnancies.
I know it’s a pretty common craving, especially if you have low iron.
There were other minor cravings, I had in the beginning that went away after I fulfilled my craving, like Indian food, 😍🤌🏼
But my ice craving stayed for the long haul! 😂

Pregnancy cravings often vary from one woman to another. While ice is a common craving among those dealing with low iron or anemia, other cravings can include a range of foods from spicy dishes to sweet treats. It is believed that these cravings are the body's way of signaling nutritional needs. For example, craving ice – or pagophagia – could indicate a deficiency in iron or a need for hydration. Studies suggest that fulfilling these cravings can help provide essential nutrients that the body craves but may not be getting adequately, especially during pregnancy. Additionally, cultural backgrounds and personal preferences play a significant role in shaping these cravings. Some women report craving tart fruits, others want savory snacks, and some have completely unusual cravings like chalk or dirt. It's crucial to supplement these cravings with healthy choices where possible, ensuring that both the mother and the developing baby receive the best nutrition. Consulting with a healthcare provider can provide insight into surprising cravings, assuring they are healthy and safe. From adaptations in diets to discussions in support groups, sharing experiences can help ease the journey of pregnancy and its cravings.
