For the tired ones who don’t have the words today.
2 sick littles, 2 and a 1/2 hours of sleep, yet my heart is still clinging to my lifeline...Jesus!
As I was midway through with my notes, I felt a calling to share this specific Bible study. So many of us struggle with exhaustion from life, that we don't always have the words. My notes are ever perfectly polished, but they are raw and real, just as raw and real as my relationship with our Father.
Jesus is so intentional. I've been studying freely, and today I decided to go off my Bible study guide. This is where He placed me today.
Here is my prayer for today;
A Sleep-Deprived Prayer for Today
Lord,
I come to You without energy,
without the right words,
without the strength I wish I had.
My body is tired.
My mind is foggy.
My heart is still trying.
You see me — fully.
Nothing in me is hidden from You.
Today, I give You what I have,
even if it feels like almost nothing.
Let my breathing be prayer.
Let my stillness be trust.
Let my exhaustion rest in Your care.
Carry what I cannot hold today.
Think the thoughts I don’t have strength to think.
Cover the places where I fall short.
If I do nothing else well today,
let me remain in You.
Thank You for being gentle with me.
Thank You for not asking more than I can give.
Thank You for staying near.
I am here, Lord.
Hold me.
Amen.
As someone who has walked many sleepless nights with little ones and a heavy heart, I deeply resonate with the exhaustion that comes from juggling life’s many demands while trying to stay spiritually close to God. This prayer perfectly captures those moments when words escape us, but our hearts still long to connect with the Divine. One thing I’ve learned through my experiences is that prayer doesn’t need to be eloquent or lengthy to be powerful. The Bible encourages us in 1 Thessalonians 5:17 to "pray without ceasing," which means maintaining a continual, sincere connection to God throughout our daily struggles, even when we feel drained or foggy. Sometimes, just a breath, a silent thought, or a simple “Lord, hold me” is all we can manage—and that is enough. In my journey, embracing the rawness of my faith rather than striving for perfection opened me to a gentler, more patient relationship with God. When exhaustion makes even the simplest tasks overwhelming, surrendering those feelings as an offering can bring peace. Trusting that God carries what we cannot bear allows us to rest, even amidst chaos. Also, stepping away from rigid routines or study guides at times, like shifting to more spontaneous Bible study or prayer, can refresh the soul and meet us where we are emotionally and spiritually. God’s intentions often reveal themselves in these moments of vulnerability and openness. To anyone feeling the weight of tiredness and silence, this prayer is a reminder that you are seen and held — nothing is hidden from God’s gentle gaze. You don’t need to have all the right words. Give what you have today; let your breath become prayer, your stillness trust. And remember, being present with God, even without words, is a powerful act of faith in itself.
