Many people focus on clean eating and supplements, yet still feel exhausted, depleted, or notice persistent skin issues. This often happens because the body’s ability to properly digest and absorb nutrients is compromised. When the gut is inflamed or imbalanced, it hampers nutrient absorption, meaning essential vitamins and minerals needed for skin repair never fully reach their target tissues. This creates a vicious cycle where the body remains deficient despite good dietary intake. I found that addressing gut health holistically — including supporting digestion, reducing inflammation, and restoring nutrient absorption — was critical in managing my eczema. For example, incorporating digestive enzymes, probiotics, and gut-healing foods like bone broth and fermented vegetables helped improve digestion. Ensuring adequate intake of nutrients such as zinc, vitamin D, omega-3 fatty acids, and antioxidants further supports skin healing. Also, it’s important to identify and eliminate specific gut irritants like processed foods, excess sugar, and potential allergens. Patience is key as rebuilding these nutrient reserves and balancing gut health takes time; often weeks to months before noticeable skin improvements emerge. But once nutrient absorption improves, fatigue decreases and skin often clears up significantly. If you struggle with eczema, consider evaluating your digestion and absorption rather than focusing solely on diet quality. A step-by-step gut reset roadmap—starting with gut-friendly meals, targeted supplements, and lifestyle factors—can break the depletion cycle and pave the way for lasting eczema relief and improved overall health.
