Counting steps and stitches 🧶
POV: Trying to stay active while crocheting 🏃🏼♀️
One of my goals this year is to be more active while I crochet. It's so easy to curl up on the couch and work on a project and good grief have I been feeling the effects of this lately 🥴
I have all the tools I need to keep moving; a walking pad, a stepper and an adjustable desk, so it's just me finding the motivation. I know these may not be the most aesthetic videos, but seeing them on my feed will serve as a reminder to get off my butt, even if it is just for a few rows of my project throughout the day.
As someone who loves crocheting but has noticed how sedentary it can be, I recently started incorporating movement into my crafting sessions. It’s surprisingly easy to get caught sitting for hours, but using a walking pad and a stepper near my crochet spot has made a noticeable difference. Even small bursts of activity, like stepping or walking for a few minutes between rows, help counteract the sluggish feeling from prolonged sitting. I also found that setting up an adjustable desk to stand while crocheting not only keeps me moving but helps improve my posture and reduces back strain. At first, it felt a bit strange to balance crafting with stepping or standing, but it quickly became a comforting routine that adds a layer of wellness to my hobby. Another trick that worked for me is breaking my crochet time into chunks and pairing them with quick workout moves. For example, after finishing a pattern section, I do a minute of gentle stretching or march in place. These simple habits keep my blood flowing and mood lifted. The key is motivation and visual reminders—posting videos of my active crochet sessions on social media holds me accountable and inspires others who might struggle with sitting too long during crafts. If you’re seeking to blend fitness goals with your love for crocheting, I highly recommend investing in compact exercise gear you can use easily and committing to interspersing active moments throughout your crafting day. It transforms a usually sedentary craft into a more dynamic, healthier experience.
