JUNE’S NEWEST PLANT, STRING OF PEARLS

✯ ━━━━━━ ✿ ✫ ✿ ━━━━━━ ✯

Introducing my newest rare plant, a string of pearls.

I was given this by my coworkers along with a card after the sudden loss of my dog, Gruff.

I’ve heard these plants can be tricky, so I took it home and have been babying it. It’s in filtered, bright light spot and I have not watered it yet.

Any tips for me?

... Read moreThe String of Pearls (Senecio rowleyanus) is a unique succulent known for its beautiful bead-like leaves that resemble pearls. Originally native to South Africa, this plant thrives in bright, indirect sunlight, making it a popular choice for indoor gardening. Due to its finicky nature, it's vital to find the right balance of light and water, as overwatering can lead to root rot, while underwatering can cause the leaves to shrivel. To propagate String of Pearls, you can take cuttings and place them in well-draining soil. Ensure that the cuttings are dry before planting to prevent any rot. This charming plant also benefits from occasional fertilization with a diluted cactus fertilizer during the growing season (spring and summer). Regular pruning can help maintain its shape and promote new growth. Joining online plant communities can provide additional tips and support from fellow enthusiasts. Whether you're a seasoned plant parent or new to the hobby, the String of Pearls plant offers a rewarding experience with its unique appearance and care requirements. I watered it a little bit last night for the first time. I’m so nervous. 😂
