INTERESTING EXPERIENCE
An unforgettable experience that pushed me out of my comfort zone and into something amazing.
I randomly popped on Zillow one night and found someone selling 40 acres less than 10 miles away from our home. My husband did a little research and found the owner. He called him and the guy was desperate to sell it ASAP before he lost it to the county for back taxes.
In 2018, my Grandmother passed away. She was 96. She left me an inheritance and with, we bought 40 acres in the mountains. We ended up getting it for less than it was worth because the seller respected my husband for calling him!
We have been building our off-grid cabin for a few years and I still can’t believe it.
I am so grateful for the moments that challenge, inspire, and change us.

Experiences that push us out of our comfort zones often lead to the most rewarding outcomes. In the journey of buying 40 acres, we engage in a deeper appreciation for the land, our heritage, and the connections formed along the way. This journey not only involves the logistics of purchasing property but also embodies a significant shift in lifestyle. Living off-grid presents unique challenges such as sourcing energy, water, and food sustainably, which aligns with the growing trend towards homesteading and self-sufficiency. Navigating the process of buying land involves understanding various factors including zoning laws, environmental concerns, and property value assessment. Researching the local real estate market is crucial for making well-informed decisions that maximize potential. Engaging with local communities can provide insights into the area, potentially enhancing the experience of integrating into a new lifestyle. Building an off-grid cabin requires planning and resilience. Homeowners must consider not just the aesthetics but also the practicality of materials, design, and energy systems.
