I even saw some incredible sketches and photographs in the gift shop showcasing its distinct architecture, and it made me think about how challenging it must be to draw it just right. It truly is a marvel of mid-century modern engineering that still feels incredibly modern and relevant today, a testament to its timeless appeal. And speaking of feeling modern, everyone always asks, 'Does the Space Needle spin?' Well, during my visit, I got to experience the incredible rotating glass floor at The Loupe Lounge, which is truly something else! While the entire tower itself doesn't spin, that transparent glass floor certainly gives you a slow, breathtaking 360-degree panorama of Seattle. You can gaze down at the bustling city streets, the shimmering Puget Sound, and even the majestic Mount Rainier on a clear day, all from your perch. I thought it was super cool how it gently turns, allowing you to take in every angle without having to move from your spot. It really adds an immersive and somewhat surreal dimension to the experience, making you feel like you're gracefully floating above the city. Its main purpose, I realized firsthand, goes far beyond simply being an observation deck.
