Teaching what we should’ve been taught about money
Retirement | Protection | Real life
As a parent and someone passionate about building a legacy, the importance of financial education cannot be overstated. I’ve found that many of us missed out on learning fundamental money skills early on, which can make a huge difference in how we approach our finances today. Teaching children—and even adults—about money goes beyond just saving or budgeting; it’s about understanding how to protect what you have and plan for the future. For instance, retirement planning is often overlooked until it suddenly becomes urgent. Starting early with retirement savings can leverage the incredible power of compound interest. Another aspect many don’t consider enough is financial protection. This includes having proper insurance coverage and emergency funds, which safeguard you and your family against unexpected setbacks. Real-life money management involves balancing short-term needs with long-term goals, and this balance is something I emphasize when sharing my financial journey. By learning and growing in these areas, we’re not only improving our personal financial health but also setting up a stronger foundation for the next generation. Teaching these lessons to our children while embedding these values in daily life encourages a legacy of financial literacy and resilience that lasts beyond our own lifetimes.
