I figured I’d share with you guys my current grocery must haves! 🥗My whole goal throughout my health and fitness journey is to heal my relationship with food. Growing up I had a problem with overeating and it still affects me even now. With time and age I’ve learned more about food and my body and how I can make changes for the better. Food is fuel and everyone needs it to function!⛽️ Even with that said everything now a days are extremely expensive ESPECIALLY when it comes to groceries! I’ve made a complete list of everything I eat and categorized it by the store that sells it for the cheapest! Hope this helps with your process or even in general for your grocery trips! 🛍️

But through my own journey of healing my relationship with food and learning to shop smarter, I've discovered some incredible ways to keep my cart full of nutritious items without draining my wallet. While my main grocery list covers a wide range of essentials, I wanted to dive a bit deeper into one of the most common questions I get: how do I manage to get enough protein, especially 'meats for my grocery list,' without spending a fortune? For me, balancing cost and nutrition is key. Frozen chicken, for example, is a non-negotiable staple. Whether it's breasts or thighs, buying it frozen in bulk from places like Walmart or Giant allows me to portion it out and have it ready for quick meals. It's incredibly versatile – perfect for grilling, shredding for tacos, or dicing into stir-fries. Another fantastic option I always look out for is shaved steak. It cooks up so quickly, making it ideal for busy weeknights when you want a satisfying, protein-packed meal without much fuss. I've found it's often more budget-friendly than larger cuts of beef and just as delicious in fajitas or cheesesteak sandwiches. Then there's ground meat, whether it's beef or turkey. This is a true workhorse on my grocery list. From making burgers to mixing into pasta sauces or chili, it stretches a long way and provides excellent value. I always keep an eye out for sales on these items. And let's not forget the humble but mighty egg whites and protein mixes! These are fantastic additions, especially for breakfast or post-workout, ensuring I get a good protein boost without relying solely on traditional meat. The OCR results from my last haul even showed I picked up some bacon – great for adding flavor to breakfasts or salads, though I enjoy it in moderation. Cottage cheese is another excellent protein source that often goes overlooked, and it's super versatile for snacks or even savory dishes. My trick for saving money on meat and other proteins is pretty simple: always check the weekly flyers for Aldi, Walmart, and Giant. Each store usually has different proteins on sale every week. If I see a great deal on frozen chicken, I'll stock up and freeze it. Planning meals around these sales means I'm getting the best quality for the lowest price. It's all about being a smart shopper and knowing your options! By focusing on these accessible and often cheaper protein sources, I ensure my body gets the fuel it needs while staying true to my budget and my goal of a healthier relationship with food.
