(Post - breakup) How do I heal after a breakup?
1) Travelling 🌍✈️
Honestly, I’m pretty lucky that I got to travel overseas right after the breakup.
Even though my family isn’t financially wealthy, my family is still able to travel together once every two years.
Coincidentally, my family had already booked the flight before the breakup, and it just so happened that the breakup happened almost immediately before our trip, my family and I flew to another country just a week later.
2) Hanging out with friends / Meeting new people
Currently, I’m chatting with my ex-crush, and we’ve planned to meet up.
( He really opened my 👀 to who my ex truly was )
I even brought him his favourite Pingu plushie from overseas, and I really hope he likes it! :) ( Pic 2 )
I’ve also hung out with my friends and treated one of them Popmart blind boxes because she really likes it.
Seeing how happy she was made me happy too.
3) Recharging ( Such as 😴 more, eating more, or spending more on yourself than usual )
For me, I recharge by 😴 more and drinking more bubble tea than usual.
I’m not a fan of Popmart or other collectables, so I don’t really need to spend money on myself to feel happy except maybe for more bubble tea!
4) Watching something you like ( For me: C-dramas, J-dramas, and TNT )
After the breakup, I honestly felt the worst.
Even the things I used to enjoy didn’t make me happy anymore.
So, I forced myself to start watching dramas again to distract myself from the breakup.
Right now, I’m watching a Mediacorp web drama called "My Boyfriend Owns a Bank" and a Japanese drama called "Kiss That Kills".
Honestly, there was a time I wanted to try self-harm because I just wanted to forget everything about my ex.
But then I realised , there’s so much more to life than him.
If he doesn’t care whether I live or not, why should I care for him?
To those who are still healing, I hope you find peace and meet the right one soon. :)
Breaking up can be one of the most challenging experiences in life, and healing is a journey that requires kindness toward yourself. From personal experience, I found that embracing new activities and social connections made a huge difference in moving forward. Traveling shortly after my breakup allowed me to shift my surroundings and mindset. Even if travel isn’t always feasible, exploring new places nearby or even in your own city can help you gain fresh perspectives and temporarily distract from painful emotions. Being with supportive family or friends during such trips adds warmth and comfort. Spending quality time with friends or meeting new people can gradually rebuild your social confidence and remind you of your worth beyond any past relationship. Small thoughtful gestures, like gifting something meaningful to a friend, can strengthen bonds and bring mutual happiness. Self-care is crucial. Allow yourself to rest without guilt, indulge in your favorite treats or activities, and don’t hesitate to pamper yourself as a form of emotional recharging. For me, bubble tea was a small joy that lifted my spirits. Finding simple pleasures can anchor you on tough days. Watching shows or dramas you enjoy can provide a safe escape and help you process emotions indirectly. Sometimes forcing yourself gently to engage with things you once loved can reignite your passion and help overcome emotional numbness. It’s important to recognize that intense feelings of pain or thoughts of self-harm can arise, but reaching out to someone you trust or a professional is vital. Remember, there’s a whole life ahead filled with new opportunities and people who will value you. Healing after a breakup doesn’t follow a strict timeline. Be patient and compassionate with yourself as you navigate this path. Ultimately, focusing on your growth and happiness will prepare you to find a healthier, more fulfilling relationship.

It will be better Kathy!!
