Wasted my effort on someone who never valued me
I bought a Shin Chan plushie blind box for my bf back then, intending to give it to him as a gift. ( Pic 2)
However, he broke up with me before I even had the chance to give it to him.
Since I’m not a fan of Shin Chan, I decided to sell it, but even after a year, no one has bought it.
A year later, we reunited and started dating again.
This time, I decided to buy him something he actually likes which is One Piece’s Zoro merch.
I was very eager to get it for him, so right after my work shift ended, I went to Plaza Singapura and queued for 20 mins just to buy it for him in late Jul. ( Pic 3 )
After buying the merch, I texted him to tell him I got him some gifts and hoped he would like them.
However, we didn’t meet up for three months due to conflicting schedules.
I kept asking him to meet, but he always said he was too tired after booking out for his military.
Then, on 15 Oct 2025, he broke up with me.
Our schedules didn’t match btw.
I am working full-time, including both weekends, and he only books out on Fri.
Honestly, I really loved him a lot.
But I feel like I wasted my time and effort on someone who didn’t appreciate my gifts or the time I tried to spend with him.
He broke up with me on 15 Oct and started dating someone else on 19 Oct.
He is currently enjoying his time on his current gf and even went to national gallery with her on 1 Nov while I am still sobbing hard because of the breakup. ( Pic 4 - 5 )

I told him to stop sending me screenshots of my ex’s Instagram stories after that.
Going through a breakup where your efforts and feelings seem dismissed is deeply painful, especially when you’ve invested so much thought into gifts and time. I’ve been there too—putting my heart into buying special items that meant something to my partner, such as the Shin Chan plushie and the rare One Piece Zoro merchandise, hoping to brighten their day. But sometimes, despite your best intentions, the other person may not be ready or willing to fully appreciate your gestures. From my experience, mismatched schedules and emotional disconnects can slowly erode a relationship. When I tried to meet my ex, he was often too tired from military duties and rarely made time, which left me feeling undervalued. It’s crucial to recognize early signs that your contributions aren’t being reciprocated emotionally. It doesn’t mean your love or efforts are worthless—they highlight the importance of mutual respect and timing. One thing I've learned is not to let pain from unappreciated efforts stop you from expressing kindness in future relationships. Personal growth comes when you understand that loving someone also means knowing when to prioritize your own emotional well-being. I now realize that finding someone who reciprocates care and values time together is what truly matters. If you’re experiencing something similar, remember that it’s okay to feel hurt but don’t lose hope. Focus on healing and self-care, surround yourself with supportive friends, and invest in activities that nurture your happiness. Gifts and meaningful efforts are beautiful expressions of love—but a healthy relationship also requires shared priorities and genuine appreciation. Over time, you will find someone who cherishes the time and love you give.

"This is such a 'core memory' of a breakup—the gift that never got given. 🥲 It’s like the universe's way of keeping a tiny piece of that chapter open. Since it hasn't sold in a year, maybe it’s a sign to just give it away to a friend’s kid or a charity shop? Sometimes clearing the physical space helps clear the mental space too. You deserve to fill your room with things you actually love! Sending you good vibes—the right person will appreciate the thought you put into gifts. 💖"
