... Read moreCutting boards play an integral role in any kitchen. They serve not only as a surface for chopping vegetables and meats but also protect your countertops from knife damage. Selecting the right cutting board can significantly impact your food preparation. There are various materials to consider, such as wood, plastic, and bamboo, each with its unique benefits. Wooden boards are durable and add a rustic charm, but they require regular oiling to maintain. Plastic boards are lightweight and dishwasher-safe, making them easy to clean, but they can scar more easily. Bamboo boards are eco-friendly and have natural antibacterial properties. It's also crucial to replace cutting boards when they become worn or deeply scarred to prevent bacteria buildup. If you're wondering how often to replace yours, a good rule of thumb is every cutting board should serve you well for about 5-10 years, depending on the material and care. The market offers budget-friendly options too, like the $8.99 board that sparked Elyn's excitement, proving that you don't have to spend a fortune to get quality kitchen tools. Embrace your cooking journey with the right tools!

some tips for maintaining the cutting board: 1. you are right, you shouldnt be putting it in the dishwasher lol 2. when you finish hand washing it, dry it completely with a towel so water doesnt sit on it for very long!! 3. after it is dry, oil it !
