Talk About Moon Cycle🥀

I’m trying to recompose my view on my moon cycle days🌹

Its quite common that we tend to dread when our period arrives.

The menstrual phases, the cramps, the king-like appetite, the mood swings, ahhh we DO NOT look forward to those.

My usual tell-tales when my visitor in red is coming are the following🧛‍♀️:

• Sore breasts/ or sudden growth on that department lol

• Lowerback cramps

• Bloating

• Heightened emotions ( which is intense enough with BPD, when our cycle is around the corner ouu baybeeee😭 )

• I cant lift the same weights at the gym

• I crave sweet treats

• I crave salty foods

• I start feelin like I want to ghost the world and come back after 3 months🤣 ( this one never fails )

But then I read somewhere that these are actually the times when we as a woman are stronger than usual! I know scientifically it involves the uterine lining that breaks down when pregnancy didnt happen that month👩🏻‍🍼. But spiritually these are the times when we are in our most feminine energy👠, and perhaps how we look and feel can be influenced from within.

To me, its like our moon cycle symbolizes reforming; it is a time of renewal and release✨

Also, in a patriarchal society, its always boom, boom, boom, gotta do this, gotta do that, but when we are in our cycle, it is the time of slowing down. To rest and reflect🧘‍♀️

So for the past months, ive been mothering myself whenever id get my moon cycle.

What did I mean by that? Well, I didnt have my Mom be there to care for me and teach me how to embrace this part of my womanhood. I sorta had to figure it out myself and ask questions from my Tia.

So I treat myself as I would, if i have my own daughter.

🌸 I take it easy; id either skip the gym or just do half the weight I usually do ( and i usually never miss a gym day LoL ) but these times, ik my body needs rest

🌸 I get into a warm and cozy home fit; baggy and soft fabric is the movement

🌸 This ones my favorite; I serve myself a fat, juicy, steak🤤 I neeeed nutrients in me

🌸 I watch my comfort shows, puts me in a great mood

🌸 A lil bit of carbs and sugar wont hurt😋 I am in pain, I deserve some comfort

🌸 Make myself a nice , hot, pot of cream of corn soup🤤

Our bodies deserves recognition for its everyday hardwork, and especially on days like these. So we gotta be extra kind to ourselves💕

I wish im off tomorrow so I can just fully recover in the comfort of my own space but I will make the best of it!

... Read moreHey my awesome GAL TALK squad! Following up on what I shared about transforming my moon cycle experience, I wanted to dive a little deeper into some fascinating connections I've discovered. When I first started rethinking my period, I kept hearing about the 'lunar cycle' and how it supposedly intertwines with our own cycle. Honestly, I was a bit skeptical at first, but the more I learned, the more I felt a powerful resonance with it. You know how our bodies often reflect the rhythms of nature? Well, many ancient traditions believe our menstrual cycle, often called our 'moon cycle,' is deeply connected to the phases of the moon. It’s not just a poetic idea; for centuries, women often bled with the new moon and ovulated with the full moon, or vice-versa. This alignment is super interesting! There are two main patterns people talk about: The White Moon Cycle: This is often considered the traditional or fertile cycle. If you're a 'white moon bleeder,' you typically menstruate around the new moon and ovulate around the full moon. Historically, this alignment was seen as being in sync with the Earth's natural fertility rhythms, focusing energy outwards towards creation and nurturing. For me, when I'm feeling that spiritual push during my period, it makes me wonder if my body is trying to connect to this ancestral rhythm, regardless of my exact timing. The Red Moon Cycle: On the flip side, some women experience their period around the full moon and ovulate around the new moon. This is often referred to as the 'red moon cycle,' and sometimes jokingly, being a 'red witch period.' Far from being negative, this alignment is traditionally associated with wisdom, creativity, and inner transformation. Women on a red moon cycle were often seen as healers, teachers, or shamans, channeling their energy inwards for self-development and community support rather than outward reproduction. When I mentioned feeling 'stronger than usual' or in my 'most feminine energy' even during my period, this 'red witch' concept really resonates. It’s about owning that powerful, transformative energy that can come with bleeding, regardless of where the moon is. It's not about being literally a witch, but embracing the powerful, intuitive, and sometimes intense energy that comes with this phase. Understanding these different alignments helped me realize that there's no "right" way for your cycle to be. Whether you bleed with the new moon, full moon, or somewhere in between, your body is doing its sacred work. It’s about recognizing the unique energy each phase brings. Knowing these traditional meanings has actually made me appreciate my own body’s wisdom even more. It’s like, instead of just dreading the cramps or mood swings, I'm now looking for the deeper meaning and power within those sensations. While I don't strictly track my cycle with a 'moonconnection calendar' (though many find it helpful!), simply being aware of these lunar influences allows me to be more intentional with my self-care. For instance, if I feel more introspective and want to "ghost the world" during my period, it feels less like a failing and more like my body's natural pull towards stillness, much like the quiet energy of a new moon. And if I feel a surge of creative energy during my bleed, perhaps that's my inner 'red witch' making an appearance! Ultimately, this deeper understanding has fortified my belief that our moon cycle is truly a time of renewal and release. It's a monthly opportunity to check in with ourselves, honor our feminine power, and nurture our bodies and souls. So let's keep having these GAL TALKS and learn to embrace every phase of our womanhood!
