It makes exploring different neighborhoods and attractions incredibly easy without having to worry about parking or navigating traffic. Now, for a bit of honest talk, because a good guide isn't just about the pretty pictures. While Chicago is amazing, it’s important to be aware of your surroundings, especially as evening approaches. Unlike some cities, you might not see many police officers patrolling the downtown areas late at night. My best advice is to stick with a group if you can, and definitely plan to head back to your accommodation once it starts to get dark. It’s better to be safe than sorry, and there’s plenty of daylight to enjoy all the city has to offer. Another small but important tip: If you need anything from a drugstore, plan ahead. I found that many pharmacies close relatively early, and after a certain hour, they only offer online orders for pickup. It's a minor inconvenience, but definitely something to keep in mind if you have specific needs. And let's talk food! The original article mentioned tourist trap restaurants, and I couldn't agree more. Don't fall for them! While they might be convenient, the food is often subpar and overpriced. Instead, use your phone to find some local gems. You absolutely have to try a classic Chicago-style hot dog – the ones from places like Portillo's are legendary and a truly authentic Chicago experience. And of course, you can’t leave without having some deep-dish pizza. I’m a huge fan of Gino's East Pizzeria; their original location has so much character and the pizza is out of this world. These local spots offer much better value and a more delicious taste of Chicago. Capturing that perfect Chicago skyline night aesthetic is easier than you think. Head to the Riverwalk or one of the many bridges just as the sun is setting.
