Mini Book Review - My Phony Valentine
My Phony Valentine
By Courtney Walsh
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5/5
No spice (just a couple kissing scenes but not much detail)
This was the perfect little pick me up to get me out of my reading slump, it was so cute and cheesy as expected, but I loved it! I literally laughed and high pitch squealed at parts. I loved how Poppy and Dallas's relationship evolved over their month together, and loved the support and welcoming she got from the hockey wives when she first met them! Highly recommend if you're looking for a cutesy sports romance. 🤍🤍
Okay, let's talk about 'My Phony Valentine' by Courtney Walsh, because seriously, this book was an absolute delight and exactly what I needed! If you've been wondering, 'is My Phony Valentine spicy?' or what its 'spice level' is, I can confirm: it's a wonderfully clean romance. While there are a couple of sweet kissing scenes, it definitely keeps things mild, making it perfect for readers who prefer their love stories without explicit details. It’s all about the heartwarming connection and emotional buildup, which I personally adore. What really pulls you into this story is the fantastic blend of popular tropes. Right off the bat, you're hit with a charming 'Hockey Romance' and an intriguing 'Fake Dating' premise. Our main character, Poppy, finds herself in a situation where she needs to pretend to be with Dallas, a hockey player, and the sparks that fly (or rather, the hilarious awkwardness that ensues) are just brilliant. The whole dynamic is set against a cozy 'Small Town' backdrop, which adds so much to the atmosphere. You really get a sense of community, especially with the 'hockey wives' who welcome Poppy into their circle, creating a supportive and fun environment that makes you wish you were part of it too! The journey of Poppy and Dallas is truly what made me fall in love with this book. Watching their relationship evolve from a fake arrangement into something genuine was incredibly satisfying. Courtney Walsh does a fantastic job of building their connection through witty banter, shared moments, and a gradual understanding of each other. I literally found myself laughing out loud at their antics and even doing some high-pitched squealing (the good kind!) at the cute, cheesy moments that just hit right. It’s the kind of book that makes you feel warm and fuzzy inside. For anyone looking for a 'reading slump pick-me-up,' this is it! It’s light, engaging, and pure joy from start to finish. If you're a fan of 'courtney walsh books' in general, you'll find her signature heartwarming style shines through here. The 5-star rating truly reflects how much I enjoyed it – it’s a perfect escape. If you appreciate a good 'My Phony Valentine' book that's packed with charm, heartfelt moments, and zero spice, then grab this one. You won't regret diving into this adorable, feel-good 'sports romance' that leaves you smiling long after you've turned the last page.
