🍵 Matcha girlies unite in Phuket
Nestled in the heart of Phuket Old Town is a quaint cafe with a wonderful selection of locally sourced and imported teas - Matcha, Hojicha, Genmaicha and their less famous cousins, Wakocha (Japanese black tea) and Omugi Wakaba (Young barley leaves).
What really stood out to me at Ryn is the depth of knowledge and passion each staff member had for all things tea.
What we ordered:
Yugana Matcha Latte 👅👅👅👅👅
-This variant boasts soft floral and nutty notes with every sip. It is ranked high on aroma and sweetness of the tea. If you have a sweet tooth like me, this is absolutely to die for.
Matcha with Honey Lemon 👅👅👅👅
-At first glance, this combination looks odd and to be very honest, it was not on our list of beverages to try. However, the staff strongly recommended it as it was his favourite beverage out of the lot. No regrets at all. If you are looking for a refreshing matcha drink, you should definitely give this a try.
Besides the popular Matcha Latte and the unique Matcha with Honey Lemon, Ryn Cafe also offers lesser-known teas like Wakocha, a Japanese black tea, and Omugi Wakaba made from young barley leaves. This variety is perfect for anyone looking to explore different tea flavors beyond the usual options. I found their brewing techniques fascinating too, especially seeing them use traditional tools like the Nanatoku Sasara. It really elevates the tea experience, giving each cup a slow, intentional drip that concentrates the flavors. For tea lovers visiting Phuket, this place is a gem worth exploring. If you’re planning your trip around Phuket, combining a visit to Ryn with island hopping or exploring Old Town by foot makes for a relaxing, authentic day. Also, don’t forget to try their tea-infused gelato if you’re in the mood for something sweet yet refreshing. From my experience, these unique offerings at Ryn truly set this cafe apart as a matcha therapy spot in Phuket you shouldn’t miss.
