My curls came back stronger & so did my confidence
I take hair care very seriously. I’ve had curly, curly hair since I was born, but there was a time when I entered my Farrah Fawcett phase, blowing out my hair religiously to achieve those big, glamorous swoops. Eventually, I decided to embrace my natural curls again, only to realize I’d done some damage. While my hairstylist assured me it wasn’t too bad, seeing my once bouncy curls looking limp was a wake-up call.
When I first began my natural hair journey, there were many days when I didn’t feel my best. I was frustrated with myself for damaging my hair, especially because I had willingly done it without realizing the long-term effects. On tough days, I hid under beanies, and when I landed a work-from-home job, I was relieved—I could avoid facing the world while I worked through it.
As time passed, I made the choice to cut off several inches of hair, not out of necessity but as a step toward a fresh start. Now, my hair looks and feels better than ever, and I’ve come to love and embrace the process. I don’t regret a single moment of this journey.
Since then, I’ve committed to going natural, taking a full year off from heat styling (aside from diffusing with a blow dryer). This journey has completely changed how I see and care for my hair—I’ve grown to love and respect my curls in a way I never had before. Now, I can’t imagine myself any other way. I’m sure I’ll straighten it again someday, but for now, I’m in no rush. #HealthyHairJourney #EmbraceYourCurls #HairCareRoutine #LoveYourHair #CurlsOnFleek
